Description:
The Coordinator of Student Affairs reports to the Assistant Director of Student Affairs and provides support and coordination
for the Office of Student Affairs. This position requires the use of independent judgment in planning, prioritizing, a diversified workload,
and discretion in regular communications with students, faculty, physicians, and administrators at Hofstra University, the School of
Medicine, and Northwell Health. This position requires a flexible work schedule, including some early morning and late evenings to support
This position is essential to ensuring that core operations within the Office of Student Affairs are maintained and effectively delivered
for the betterment of our students and the School of Medicine.
Characteristic duties and responsibilities include, but are not
limited to:
• Works closely with faculty, staff, and leadership to plan and implement the delivery and evaluation of the
First 100 Weeks educational program and its related activities in accordance with the mission and goals of the School of Medicine.
• Provides administrative support necessary to enable faculty to be successful, including managing correspondence, scheduling,
attending, and keeping record of meetings, tracking the completion of tasks, coordinating faculty recruitment and onboarding, and helping
with educational technology.
• Coordinates all assigned learning sessions, faculty meetings, one-on-one course director-student
meetings, materials for sessions and any other related sessions.
• Prepares and continuously tracks and updates schedules,
reports, meeting materials/agendas, and all other program materials.
• Provides administrative support for both assessment and
evaluation processes and work with the assessment team to share student assessment and program/faculty evaluation data with the respective
course directors.
• Recognizes issues of concern as they arise and track and follow up on program needs in the short, medium and
long term.
• Assists deans, directors, faculty and program managers with projects (research or otherwise) related to the courses,
as needed.
Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree required.
• Ability to be a collaborative
and learning-centered professional with experience in higher education, and/or equivalent related experience in a customer service-related
field.
• Possess excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Possess customer-service oriented,
excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Must demonstrate the ability to work with people from a variety of culturally
diverse backgrounds, work collaboratively and effectively in teams.
• Must have extensive computing experience and demonstrate
proficiency with MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Google suite products.
• Must have the ability to exercise independent,
sound, analytical/diagnostic judgements and have demonstrated experience in program implementation.
• Early morning, evening, and
weekend work may be required during busy periods.
