Hanson is seeking Human Resources candidates for our 2024 Summer Internship Program. We have potential opportunities in our corporate headquarters in Springfield, Illinois.
Day in the life:
Interns will perform routine human resources tasks using standard procedures under supervision of our HR Manager and our Talent Development Manager.
Interns will support one or more experienced professionals in performance of assignments, spend time shadowing actual operations, and have unique assignments that support larger projects as well as experience the day-to-day workings of human resources. Interns may perform and/or participate in additional activities/events which help them build a strong network within the Hanson community and with fellow interns. Internships may require travel to other Hanson locations.
Key Responsibilities:
HR interns will be expected to perform the following key responsibilities with assistance from a Hanson HR professional:
1. Supporting the internship program from a planning and record-keeping perspective;
2. Completing tasks in the HR Information System and the Learning Management System;
3. Supporting training and development activities to include assigning training and tracking training completions;
4. Participate in HR planning sessions to support the completion of 2024 roadmap items:
5. Assisting with updating employee records and answering employee calls;
6. Assisting with training sessions geared toward educating employees on the functions of HR; and
7. Performing related duties such as writing memoranda, letters or general reports; collecting and correlating data; maintaining records; attending meetings; and operating office equipment.
Qualifications: Key requirements are listed but not limited to the following:
* Strong written and oral communication skills
* Strong analytical skills
* Knowledge of Microsoft Office
* Valid driver’s license
Intern must be actively enrolled in a field of study such as Human Resources, Organizational Development, or Business Administration. The ideal candidate will have successfully completed their sophomore year and be actively enrolled in an accredited 4 year college or university.
