The following position is available as a substitute assignment for the Instructional Computing department. The assignment is expected to begin in October and last approximately 4-6 months.

SALARY
CL-32: $2,573 per month (Step A)
The compensation shall be paid at the step of the higher classification which is at least five (5) percent greater than the bargaining unit member’s monthly salary, including any longevity increment.

SUMMARY: Under the direction of an assigned supervisor, coordinate operations of, and perform specialized duties related to tutoring and assistance within learning centers in support of a diverse student community.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Any combination equivalent to an Associate’s Degree in area of assignment, office management/coordination, or related field, and two years increasingly responsible experience in tutoring or learning assistance center coordination or other complex office environments.

SUMMARY:
Under the direction of an assigned supervisor, coordinate operations of, and perform specialized duties related to tutoring and assistance within learning centers in support of a diverse student community.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Demonstrate sensitivity to the diverse backgrounds of students, faculty, and staff in order to create an environment of acceptance and inclusion.
Organize, coordinate, oversee, implement, and assist with the evaluation of the operations and activities of the tutoring and learning assistance centers, including online learning assistance activities.
Resolve and report issues that arise with facilities, equipment personnel, emergencies, safety, student complaints, and student use issues in a proper and timely manner.
Recruit, recommend, select, train and provide work direction to assigned tutors and other hourly workers; assign and review work, in consultation with supervisor/coordinator when appropriate; coordinate and prepare schedules in accordance with current policies and laws.
Process hire paperwork; monitor hire approvals and temporary employee advancement and qualifications; update hire forms as needed.
Handle discipline issues and incidents following the college process and departmental and center guidelines for all temporary employees within the center/area of authority.
Develop, interpret, evaluate, implement, and revise center guidelines and procedures.
Assist with the development of an annual budget plan and monitor budgets for assigned center(s); monitor expenditures and prepare projections as directed, develop and maintain system to account for all expenditures.
Reconcile various funding sources with the information in the financial management system on a regular basis. Ensure that spending complies with usage stipulations of multiple funding sources.
Create, administer and monitor a variety of surveys on a regular basis as needed.
Compile, summarize and analyze data and information and prepare a variety of reports related to usage and performance of assigned centers.
Serve on Tutoring Advisory Committee and/or other committees as requested by supervisor/coordinator.
Ensure the programs and services offered by the center(s) contribute to and reflect the college’s mission.
Operate a variety of standard office equipment and machines including computers, printers, scantron machines, and copiers.
Maintain center areas(s) in a safe, clean, and orderly condition.
Create content for and update the Center website via the district supported content management system.
SECONDARY FUNCTIONS:
Create and conduct program-related presentations to college and district departments and the governing board as needed.
Prepare informational documents related to tutoring and learning center operations.
Prepare and maintain a variety of records and files related to area of assignment and implement and monitor related procedures.
Coordinate and conduct promotion and outreach of tutoring services and centers.
Communicate as needed with various college and district departments and personnel, local high schools, colleges and other outside organizations; attend various meetings as requested by supervisor.
Remain current in areas of responsibilities. Participate in local, regional, state and national conferences, meetings and organizations as funding and staffing permits.
Perform related duties as assigned.
