Description
Great Basin College is seeking qualified candidates for the Student System Analyst (SSA) is responsible for the
development, implementation, and support of major applications systems and analyzing business procedures. This position has high level
responsibilities for the Great Basin College Student Information System (SIS) and the ongoing upgrades and maintenance of the institutional
student data system using Oracle/Campus Solutions/PeopleSoft. The SSA provides leadership to the SIS Operations team and guidance to
Admissions and Records (A&R) and Student Financial Services (SFS) to assure the accuracy of data. The SSA works very closely with the
Director of Institutional Research as well as provides on-site collaboration with the Research Analyst.
Qualifications:
Master’s degree or Bachelor’s degree with equivalent experience. Degree must be from a regionally accredited institution of
higher education.
Knowledge of PeopleSoft, preferably in a higher education setting.
Knowledge of a variety
of object-oriented, scripting languages, including SQL.
Knowledge of various business related software systems and/or ability
to learn new programs with ease, accessing PeopleSoft data, putting it into a secure location and making it available for reporting and for
other uses, such as communications or learning management systems.
The integrity and accuracy of the data for reports is
interdependent on the oversight of the data input and reporting. Knowledge of databases, data query, and data access is essential. Knowledge
is used to plan, organize and execute the following: semester set up, close of semester, class schedule, registration, grade processing,
web-registration set up, etc.
Strong communication, organizational, technical, analytical, and problem solving
skills.
Responsibilities:
Develop, implement and support major applications systems and analyze
business procedures;
Develop, implement and support new software-based solutions and enhancements and purchased software
systems;
Understand and evaluate business processes to provide software-based solutions to increase productivity and
efficiency;
Oversee department staff, assesses its effectiveness, and provides strategic direction;
Oversight
of the overall Student Records Module of the Campus Solutions PeopleSoft product, including testing of upgrades and business
processes;
GBC Co-project Lead for the Shared Instance;
Assist with financial and human resources reporting
needs in Workday;
Researches opportunities for increased efficiency and the best use of current and available
technologies;
Oversees student records security access of legacy SIS and PeopleSoft and decides on appropriate access and
works with Computer Services to implement access;
Analyzes and tests student records;
Ensure accuracy and
integrity of data and information provided;
Prepares a variety of specialized reports, data and analysis that are for
institutional and system use;
Oversees the development and maintenance of query-based updates to facilitate business
processes automation and data integrity;
Facilitates training and assistance for PeopleSoft in every institutional
area;
Upholds FERPA regulations in the use of student records;
Maintains and updates departmental
documentation;
Serves on various GBC and NSHE committees;
Travel as needed, with possible overnight stays,
with or without accommodations under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA);
Other duties as assigned.
Salary and Benefits:
Annual salary range is $68,000 – $90,000 commensurate with experience and education.
Nevada
System of Higher Education benefits package includes a 401(a) defined contribution retirement plan with employees contributing 15.50 % and a
matching 15.50% from the employer, medical/dental/vision plan, benefit time, 11 paid holidays, and tuition waiver at Nevada System of Higher
Education colleges for the employee and family. There is no state income tax in Nevada.
