Bioinformatics Programmer – Department of Biochemistry and Molecular & Cellular Biology and Clinical and Translational Glycoscience Research Center – Georgetown University Medical Center

Overview

The Edwards Lab in the and the invites applications for an entry-level opportunity.

In a highly collaborative environment, the Bioinformatics Programmer will work on glycoinformatics and glycoproteomics projects for a NIH-funded glycoscience portal and the CTGRC.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Molecular Biology, Bioinformatics, Computer Science, or related field
• Demonstrated experience on research bioinformatics and/or computational biology projects – with ability to show evidence of this experience in publicly visible projects
• Strong Python, C++, Java, and/or JavaScript programming skills
• Excellent written and oral verbal communication skills
• High motivation and ability to work independently

Preferred qualifications

• Experience in any of the following: glycoinformatics; mass-spectrometry, proteomics, and glycoproteomics data analysis; semantic web technologies and ontologies; bioinformatics portals and data resources; and/or computer algorithms and data-structures for graphs and trees.
• Technical skills that include Python, C++, Java, and/or JavaScript programming
• High performance skills
