General Dynamics Electric Boat, the nation’s premier designer and builder of nuclear submarines, is seeking Operations Supervisors to take part in building the most complex product in the world.

The Sheetmetal Operations Supervisor must possess an energetic and positive attitude and be willing to change and develop as requirements of assigned tasks dictate.

Responsibilities include:

Supervises and controls daily trade functions to ensure maximum use of manpower and resources
• Provides guidance and support through hiring, training and employee development
• Ensures the team maintain full compliance with all pertinent drawings and procedures
• Ability to effectively organize and assign work to hourly employees such that safety, quality, schedule and cost objectives are met
• Controls daily production goals in accordance with production plans
• Monitor trade processes for continuous improvement and follows through to ensure safety goals/objectives are met daily
• Must recognize a safe work area with good housekeeping practices and instill this behavior within the team
• Manages trade schedule, cost performance and advises reports on same
• Ensures hourly evaluation system is managed properly in accordance with established policies and procedures
• Must be able to promote a positive team environment
• Must have the ability to interact with all levels of management, customer and Human Resources to resolve employee issues
• Must have the ability to set, assign, and measure daily production goals, provide technical expertise, instruct, mentor and motivate crew

This position is located at the Quonset Point facility in North Kingstown, RI

Required:

• High School Diploma or Equivalent
• 2 plus years’ Sheetmetal experience
• Must be available to work all shifts, including extended hours and weekends as business needs dictate
• Must possess strong PC skills including proficiency with the MS Office suite
• Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance through the department of defense

Preferred:

• Supervisory/Leadership experience
• 3 plus years’ Sheetmetal experience
• Proficiency in blueprint and drawing interpretation
• Vocational, Technical and Community Colleges or Apprentice programs
• Structural fabrication experience
• Working leader experience
• Previous EB experience
• MDU graduate
• Navy/Military
