Freedom Solar is looking for a skilled and motivated Human Resources (HR) Employee Relations Manager to join our rapidly growing team. This individual will play a key role on our team and support our business in several HR functions by providing advice to employees about the company and governmental rules, regulations, procedures, and the need for compliance while maintaining a positive working relationship between the company and employees. In addition, the HR Employee Relations Specialist will have the opportunity to assist in the implementation of a variety of new HR processes and programs. This position will report to the Director of Human Resources.
Because the responsibilities of this role are diverse, the ideal candidate will be competent and resourceful with a passion for HR. This is a full-time position and will be based at our Austin, TX office.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS and DUTIES:
● Provides support to management and employees on employee relations policies, procedures and programs while maintaining positive relationships and fostering open communication
● Counsels employees regarding work, family, or personal problems as they affect work life
● Advises managers on employee relations matters to include assessing root causes, determining appropriate strategies for addressing problems, and coaching and supporting managers through the execution of identified actions, including corrective actions as appropriate
● Provides counsel to employees and managers regarding performance issues including but not limited to PIP, progressive disciplinary actions, and terminations
● Attends conferences and meetings, as an employee-management liaison, to facilitate communication between parties
● Audits and monitors personnel transitions including but not limited to orientation, the onboarding process of new hires, transfers, demotions, reduction in forces, and terminations.
● Conducts exit interviews, summarizes findings, and discusses trends and concerns with senior management
● Assists with the preparation of human resources reports including gathering, compiling, and analyzing data
● Assists employees in filing claims for short-term disability, FMLA, ADA, etc.
● Responds to unemployment filings and claims and prepares for and attends unemployment hearings as required
● Assists with and documents investigations
● Develops, assists with, and coordinates employee morale initiatives, internal company benefits, and recommendations as needed
● Prepares newsletters and other reports to communicate information about employee concerns, comments, and organizational actions taken
● Supports the performance review process to deliver the maximum value to the organization
● Assists Director of Human Resources in other related duties as required and assigned
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
● BA/BS in HR Management or Business preferred
● 3 to 5 years of Human Resource Generalist or Specialist experience required; HR experience in construction or electrical fields is highly desired.
● Must have at least 2 years of Employee Relations experience
● Prior HRIS experience; Workforce ADP strongly preferred
● Multi-state HR experience highly preferred (TX, CO, FL, NC, SC, VA)
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES, and COMPETENCY:
● Understanding of general human resources policies and procedures
● Solid knowledge of employment/labor laws
● Ability to work independently under general direction
● Ability to problem solve and handle non-routine situations by determining the approach or action to take and interpreting guidelines, procedures, policies, and practices.
● Outstanding knowledge of MS Office
● Excellent communication and people skills
● Ability navigate conflict, seeking positive, mutually beneficial outcomes
● Ability to maintain confidential information.
● Desire to work as a team with a results-driven approach
● Process- and detail-oriented
● Good judgment and the ability to ask for help when needed
● Ability to work with diverse and strong personalities to drive results in a fast-paced environment
