Summary of Responsibilities
As a FloWorks Area Manager, you act as a bridge between the regional manager and the territories serving as another point of accountability in the area. As the Area Manager, you are ultimately responsible for the design and execution of the sales strategy for your area.
Your role has the purpose of 1) acting as an extension of and leverage for the Regional Manager’s objectives and directives, 2) leading onsite sales efforts with key and target customers (where applicable), and 3) tracking and improving the performance of Territory Managers.
Position Purpose
Area Manager:
Strategic Planning & Reporting
Works with each territory manager on plan and detailed territory plans
Create the territory with the territory manager
Utilize Resources like ACTadvantage and Salesforce
Review Customer Alignment across Area along with Automation
New Customer Acquisition
Assists on new accounts with Territory Manager and in tandem with Account Managers
Identify New Customer Targets and Their Potential
Servicing Existing Customers
May be involved with large accounts “one rung higher”
Identify Potential Growth at Existing Customers
Identify How to Move More Customers to the Core
Management
Large focus: Attends/Holds monthly sales meetings with Territory Managers
Attends the Territory Manager Meeting that are Held
Reviews OSR Account Assignment and Management
Helps territory manager and account plans as well as reviews with them
Oversee inventory levels to ensure product availability, minimize stock outs,
Operations
Delegates where possible to Operations Manager, Secondary Focus behind Sales
Major Tasks, Responsibilities and Key Accountabilities
Sales Strategy: Develop and execute a comprehensive sales and distribution strategy for the assigned area, with a focus on revenue growth and market expansion by working with the Territory Managers in the Area.
Team Management: Recruit, train, and manage a team of Territory Managers and technical experts within the area, providing guidance, coaching, and support to achieve sales targets.
Customer Relationship Management: Build and maintain strong relationships with key customers, understanding their valve requirements and providing customized solutions.
Product Knowledge: Stay up to date with valve products, technologies, and industry trends, ensuring a deep understanding of product features, benefits, and applications.
Inventory Management: Oversee inventory levels to ensure product availability, minimize stockouts, and optimize inventory turnover.
Sales Forecasting: Develop accurate sales forecasts, budgets, and goals for the area and monitor progress toward achieving them.
Technical Support: Provide technical support to sales representatives and customers, offering expertise on valve applications and troubleshooting as needed.
Market Analysis: Conduct market research to identify potential clients, industries, and emerging opportunities within the area.
Reporting: Maintain detailed records of sales activities, track performance metrics, and prepare regular reports for senior management.
Compliance: Ensure compliance with all relevant laws, regulations, and company policies in sales and distribution activities.
