Responsibilities
The Worker’s Compensation Specialist/Coordinator administers a multifaceted worker’s compensation management program for Florida State University, including all worker’s compensation operations and programming, loss control, return to work, investigations, training, reporting, and continuous strategic improvement efforts. The Specialist coordinates the care of injured employees with the State Division of Risk Management and the Medical Case Management provider. Core responsibilities include:
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree and four years of experience related to the duties of the position, or a high school diploma/equivalency and eight years of experience related to the duties of the position. (Note: or a combination of post high school education and experience equal to eight years in same as above.)

The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, organized, has excellent communication and customer service skills, and has previous human resource experience.
What is a typical day in this position?
Work in this position involves constant communication with university employees regarding leave benefits, payroll timelines/process, and worker’s compensation claims. This person is responsible for researching employee information, worker’s compensation claims and time entry transactions. While the processes are similar each biweekly payroll processing, each inquiry and claim are unique to the individual employee situation.
What to expect in the first 60 – 90 days:
Your first few weeks will be getting up to speed on policies and procedures, and gaining familiarity with our human resources information systems. You will also begin learning about the University’s organizational structure and networking with representatives in our departments.

Anticipated Salary Range
Anticipated starting salary in the low to mid- $50,000’s, commensurate with education and experience.
