Responsibilities
This position coordinates all administrative aspects of the graduate program in the Department of Physics.
In this role you will be responsible for:
- Processes including coordinating recruitment, advising, and admissions, monitoring student academic progress, and management of student data.
- Collecting graduate student appointment information
- Assisting HR to process graduate student job offer/appointment
- Processing Graduate Assistants Letter of Appointment
- Maintaining graduate student spreadsheet including student stipend rates, work location, research advisor, admission/graduation year, active/leave of absence status, etc.
- Supervising the Undergraduate Program Coordinator and overseeing the Student Affairs office in the Physics Department.
- Serving as Assistant Chair on the Graduate Affairs Committee and coordinating all graduate student admissions.
- Working with the Associate Chair to create and build the department’s course schedule.
- Tracking enrollment and adjusting enrollment caps and major caps as needed.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree and one year of experience; or a high school diploma and five years of experience. (Note: post high-school education and/or experience may substitute at a comparable rate.)
- Experience developing and implementing policies, procedures, goals and objectives.
- Experience establishing and maintaining effective working relationships.
- Ability to interpret academic program requirements and provide advice.
- Knowledge of academic resources available to students.
- Knowledge of principles and practices of academic program planning, development, and evaluation.
- Ability to prioritize, organize and perform multiple work assignments simultaneously.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in working with student data to fulfill requirements related to accreditation.

The FSU Physics Department offers research programs that are well-funded and provide a breadth of learning and teaching experience to over 300 graduate and undergraduate students. The department is comprised of over 60 faculty members specializing in condensed matter, nuclear, high-energy, atomic, bio-, and astrophysics.
The Physics Department houses unique experimental facilities such as the John D. Fox Nuclear Accelerator Laboratory, where this position is located.

Anticipated Salary Range
Minimum starting salary for the position is $44,100. Anticipated starting salary will be commensurate with experience and qualifications.
