Responsibilities
Directs and manages marketing and communication strategies for the Center for Criminology and Public Policy Research and the College of Criminology and Criminal Justice.
Responsible for design and implementation of marketing, communication and, public relations strategies that promote and reinforce the College’s position as an academic and research leader. Promotes the College’s brand – Research Brought to Life in print, media, online and social media. Promotes and communicates criminology faculty research activities that translate into evidence-based policy and practices to key stakeholders.
Develops and implements marketing/communication action plans, measurable outcomes and timelines that directly impacts student recruitment, faculty recruitment, legislative relations, fund-raising, constituency relations, and other stakeholders that contribute to the reputation and progress of the College of Criminology and Criminal Justice, its affiliated Center for Criminology and Public Policy Research and research institutes.
Writes, edits, and supervises creation of research and academic news, press releases, program advertisements, newsletters, and event information published for multi-media purposes i.e., in print, social media, and website. Assists the dean with fundraising and development messaging and communication strategies to meet fundraising goals. Assists with special project event planning and logistics, promotional planning and materials, report and document development, event coverage, etc. Direct, supervise and oversee the activities of OPS media specialist and OPS graduate assistant to assist in carrying out overall marketing and communication objectives.
Directs and supervises visual, electronic, and/or multimedia website design and content. Leads communications planning, market research, creative development efforts and marketing executions. Assesses progress toward marketing goals.
Qualifications
A Bachelor’s degree and four years of experience related to media, communications, and/or marketing services; or a high school diploma or equivalent and eight years of experience related to the duties of this position. (Note: a combination of post-high school education or experience equal to eight years).
Demonstrated marketing and communication experience.
Ability to train and supervise employees.
