Responsibilities
Develops SQL and/or No SQL rules structure in the associated FDD, BAS, and cloud services databases. Provides assurance that all system naming conventions are in compliance with Project Haystack standards. Coordinate with campus ITS related to appropriate IP assignments for all BAS and campus IP-based metering systems. Leads the campus IoT efforts as they relate to building and utility systems. Coordinates with other team members and interns.
Prepares specifications engineering drawings and sketches related to automation system improvements. Performs engineering studies used for optimization and design purposes. Provides graphical interfaces to the campus BAS system used to monitor all systems remotely.
Prepare utilities departmental data and conduct reporting and dashboard development and management. Obtains price procurement data and performs cost estimates on new projects related to utility systems; maintains records of actual costs. Coordinates with team members and/or interns.
Participates in the development, analysis, and evaluation of the technology management plan for the University’s Building Automation System (BAS) network. The technology management plan includes but is not limited to, developing the campus-wide migration plan to Siemens Desigo CC building management software platform; developing and maintaining network system standards for new designs, enhanced graphics, local alarms, remote notification alarming (RENO), fault diagnostics and detection (FDD) and hardware upgrades including field panels, instrumentation devices, metering equipment, and servers. Supports coordination of the BAS software, applications, programming, and support. Supports coordination with FSU-ITS and Facilities ITS for the management of the servers loading and balancing, IP addresses, operational and historian databases, etc. Assists with planning and organization of all facets of the day-to-day division activities to meet short- and long-range goals and objectives.
Participates in the development, implementation, and maintenance of policies, objectives, and short-and-long-range planning including, but not limited to, 5-10-20 Year Master Plans, Utilities Critical Maintenance Capital Plan, and departmental budget planning. Serves as a member of the department’s senior management team participating in strategic planning to develop and implement projects and programs to assist in accomplishing the established goals for Central Utilities. Assists in decision-making in emergency situations affecting critical components of the university. Serves as a liaison to develop and maintain partnerships throughout the University.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, MIS, or another appropriate degree, and four years of experience of related work experience; or a high school diploma/equivalency and eight years of related work experience.
(Note: a combination of post-high school education and experience equal to eight years in the same.)
Knowledge of standard programming languages, concepts, practices, and procedures within the technology field.
Knowledge of applicable computer software and operating systems.
Knowledge of data analysis techniques and methodology.
knowledge of principles, concepts, and methodology in designing, estimating, planning, and inspecting construction projects and managing project schedules.
Ability to interpret, conceptualize, design, and modify equipment to meet specialized requirements.
Ability to convey technical information to technical and non-technical users.
A valid State of Florida or Georgia driver’s license or the ability to obtain prior to hire.
