General Summary
The Manager of Pricing Design is responsible for the analysis of incoming RFI’s and RFP’s, the assignment of detailed pricing development activity and ongoing day to day management of team activities.
The role is responsible for costing and pricing new and existing deals, presenting findings to senior leadership, and tracking progress against the original analysis. The Pricing Design Manager will work directly with potential new customers in developing pricing solutions for their supply chain needs. They are responsible for ensuring that the pricing addresses customer pain points, defined needs, is uniquely differentiating and is competitive within the market.
This role will also manage the most complex pricing opportunities and lead the effort for highly strategic account analysis.
This role will have significant exposure to executive management and is critical to the organization’s long-term profitability through active portfolio analytics and management.
Primary Responsibilities
Manages at least 3-5 full time exempt direct reports. Management responsibilities include, but are not limited to hiring, coaching, skills development, recognition and rewards, staff productivity and performance management to include disciplinary actions up to and including termination.
Enables the team to respond to RFP opportunities which includes, response document and supports the pricing of strategic business solutions
Conducts customer meetings, sets and manages customer expectations by exercising moderately complex risks, issues and change management best practices.
Ensures satisfactory transfer of custody and control of new business opportunities to the PMO and Implementations teams upon award of new business.
Confidently makes presentations from mid-size to large audiences at senior level positions both internal and external.
Supports the development of the CLEAR document.
Supports team in the development of customer pricing models which align to market conditions, while offering FedEx Supply Chain appropriate financial protections.
Supports and creates standard price model offerings that enhance the development of FedEx Supply Chains standard suite of 3PL offerings
Supports the re-pricing and financial analysis for existing business in relation to contract extensions and/or post go-live audits
Creates useful metrics to measure the team’s bandwidth, while also analyzing data to support current market trends with respect to 3PL pricing.
May act as the sole pricing and solutions single POC for small, quick turn warehousing opportunities
Creates tools that enhance the ability for decision makers to identify opportunities that should be pursued
Communicates, explains difficult issues and works to establish consensus.
Achieves customer satisfaction through successful deployments of new business.
Ensures that all applicable internal departments are engaged on all opportunities.
Plans, organizes, staffs, directs and controls the day-to-day operations of the department; develops and implements policies and programs as necessary.
Develops and manages the department budget, ensures compliance and addresses variances and other budget concerns.
Sets department direction and insures timely and accurate data flow to senior management as required.
Education/Experience
Bachelor’s Degree in related field preferred (i.e. Financial and/or Supply Chain) and a minimum of 10-12 years of relevant experience.
In lieu of degree, high school diploma or GED and a minimum of 12 years of relevant experience.
Span of control is at department level or above.
Five (5) plus years of proven management experience, preferably in multi-customer logistics environment.
Experience leading business development or solutions teams a plus.
High level of competency with MS Office Tools (Word, Excel, Project, Power Point, Visio).
Prior experience in developing cost models or other financial analysis
Prior experience in contract and pricing negotiations.
Project management experiences a plus.
Prior experience with 3PL warehouse management systems a plus.
