Primary Purpose of the Organizational Unit
The Division of Facilities Management functions are to design, construct, maintain and operate the physical facilities of the University. The number one objective of the department is to provide and maintain facilities that will enhance and support the mission and academic goals of the university. Our approach is centered upon providing a superior level of customer service.
Primary Purpose of the Position:
The Building Environmental Services Supervisor- Assistant Manager reports to the Building Environmental Services Manager and assists with day-to-day management of housekeeping department operations. Activities include but are not limited to monitoring building conditions and staff productivity, ensuring housekeeping staff are working safely, efficiently and following safety procedures. This position will provide housekeeping skills and individual developmental training to staff. The BESS-Assistant Manager may work with other units within facilities management, and various campus stakeholders to ensure proper Facilities Management support. This position requires sound housekeeping technical knowledge, solid leadership skills, and the ability to ensure all functions and goals of the housekeeping operations are met.

This position work hours are Monday-Friday (4:00 am-1:00 pm)
The position will work on-call periods and respond to emergencies during those times. The position will be required to support special events on campus outside of normal working hours. The position is classified as mandatory so is required to report to work during adverse weather and other emergencies when the university may be closed.

High School Diploma or GED
1 year of on-the-job experience in a custodial position
5 years of continuous supervisory experience
Preferred Qualifications::
10 years of supervisory experience, preferably in a university environment.
3 years advanced experience in maintenance or operation of custodial equipment
Certified Educational Facilities Professional credential (CEFP) or ISSA certification
