Position Title: Accountant (GAAP) and Data Report Writer (EDW/SQL/SSRS/BI/VB)
Salary Information: $55,000+ commensurate with experience and qualifications

Position Summary
Colonial Farm Credit (www.colonialfarmcredit.com) is an agricultural credit cooperative and provides loans for farms and country homes; land purchase, home construction, or improvements; buildings, machinery, livestock, or equipment; production capital for both full-time and part-time farmers; and ag-related businesses.
We have an excellent employment opportunity for an Accountant and Data Report Writer (combined role) in our Finance Department/Administrative office located in Mechanicsville VA under the general direction of the Association’s Controller and Chief Financial Officer.
Primary Functions
– Performs generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) activities of the Association, including analysis, reconciliations, recording, and verifying transactions.
– Verifies accuracy and completeness of reports generated automatically and provides validation for Internal Controls over Financial Reports (ICFR) compliance.
– Analyzes financial documents and records necessary entries to the general ledger. Performs research, analysis, and account reconciliations as assigned. Gathers and provides information for audits.
– Development, modification, and distribution of various management and board reports using: – Enterprise Data Warehouse (EDW: a database warehouse that houses data from all areas of the business; stores data from multiple departments, sources, and applications to make centralized analytics available across the business),
– SQL (Structured Query Language), and,
– SSRS (SQL Server Reporting Servic e), which will be transitioning to BI (Business Intelligence) or Visual Basic (VB).
– Gathers, inspects, and transfers data into custom reports to provide accurate information in a clear and timely manner to employees, management, and the board.
– Develops ad hoc reports for management, as requested. Maintains subscriptions for electronic delivery of recurring reports via e-mail, posting to intranet, or saving electronic copies to designated folders.
Education, Experience, and Requirements (things you need to be successful):
– Education or experience equivalent to a Bachelor’s degree in accounting or equivalent field
– Strong technical skills with intermediate knowledge of Excel, Access, Word and Outlook
– Experience with EDW, SQL, SSRS/BI, and/or Visual Studios a plus (training may be provided based on experience)
– Working knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP)
– Superior attention to detail
– Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively with employees at all levels
– Ability to effectively handle multiple tasks and to work independently under general supervision
– Strong communication (oral and written), grammatical, and organizational skills
– Acceptable background reports (credit, criminal, driving, drug screen, and education)
