The Department of Radiology and Imaging Sciences at Emory University invites junior, mid-career, and senior-level (Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor) researchers with expertise in medical image analysis and processing techniques to apply for a faculty position. This is an opportunity to participate in building and growing a basic and translational medical image analysis research program centered on the state-of-the-art equipment and existing imaging programs. Emory Radiology and Imaging Sciences is an integrated cross-disciplinary scientific, administrative, and educational home for imaging sciences, with a focus on neuroscience, oncology and cardiovascular research. Partnerships exist with Emory Healthcare, Winship Cancer Institute, Rollins School of Public Health, Emory National Primate Research Center, Georgia Institute of Technology, Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta, Marcus Autism Center, and industry partners within a collaborative environment.
The Emory Department of Radiology and Imaging Sciences (http://www.radiology.emory.edu/index.html) has a strong record of innovation in imaging research, including the development and translation of imaging techniques and technologies. This is an outstanding opportunity for an energetic scientist with interest in areas that complement and enhance the current research strengths of the Department (see http://www.radiology.emory.edu/research/). They will be expected to develop a cutting-edge, independently funded research program that includes strong intradepartmental and interdepartmental collaboration, as well as education.
Available research dedicated resources include: 7T and 3T MRI scanners, cyclotron, radiopharmacy, preclinical and clinical PET and PET/CT, and PET-MRI. The integrated core environment supported by the Georgia Research Alliance (https://www.cores.emory.edu/georgia-cores-alliance/index.html) permits equal access to strong, translation focused, integrated core laboratories including Emory’s Center for Systems Imaging (https://www.cores.emory.edu/csic/) as well as the Department’s Nuclear Medicine Division (see http://www.radiology.emory.edu/clinical-divisions/nuclear-medicine/index.html).
The qualified candidate should hold a PhD or MD-PhD in medical physics, engineering, or related field, a strong publication record in medical image analysis and processing research and/or artificial intelligence techniques, demonstration of extramural research funding, as well as a strong commitment to education and mentoring the next generation of biomedical and physician-scientists. Primary responsibilities will include development of independent and collaborative research projects, generation of extramural funding, publication in peer-reviewed journals and supporting programmatic research activities related to medical imaging technologies and applications. Previous leadership, managerial, and educational experience are preferred. Rank will be commensurate with experience.
