Primary Function of Organizational Unit:
The organizational unit is the Division of Academic Affairs of the Department of Public Health at the Brody School of Medicine. Our Department of Public Health is committed to educating professionals and conducting research to improve the health of communities in our region and beyond. We practice a combination of science and social approaches to reduce disease and systematically address the multiple determinants of health. Our work is rooted in strong partnerships with the community, health and social services, industry and business, and academia.
The evidence-based study and practice of Public Health have never been more important as our region, state, nation, and world face the combined crises of the COVID-19 pandemic and climate change. It is time to break down silos, build partnerships and forge alliances to address these challenges.
Eastern North Carolina has significant health burdens, especially in the rural, low-resource, and racial and ethnic minority communities. Many of these issues are brought to light through environmental impacts in our region, such as natural disasters and climate change, and are impacted substantially by the social determinants of health. Addressing these health threats and the disparities that stem from them are the driving forces for our teaching, research, and service.

Public Health is collaborative in research and service and work with local, regional, state, and national public health and healthcare agencies and works closely with and are guided by a diverse group of Community Advisory Board members who lend their expertise to help us achieve program goals.Job Duties :
The position consists of 30% admin support, 30% procurement, 30% communication, 10% travel coordination and reimbursement.
The position will be from a remote location (with occasional need to be on-site in Greenville, NC)Minimum Education/Experience:
High school diploma or equivalency; or demonstrated possession of the competencies necessary to perform the work.
License or Certification Required by Statute or Regulation:
N/A
Preferred Experience, Skills, Training/Education:
Experience/familiarity with ECU or UNC system procedures/systems (PORT, materials management, Chrome River); experience with grant/contract-funded projects experience working with community partners, esp. schools ability to work independently. Computer skills in word processing (Microsoft suite), email, mtg coord, and Excel familiarity with support systems for ordering, purchasing strong communication (verbal, phone, email)
