Organizational Unit Overview:
The position will be housed in the Department of Child Development and Family Relations and with the Nancy W. Darden Child Development Center (NDCDC). The NDCDC is an early childhood educational program operated by the department. It provides early education and cares to preschool children ages 6 months through 5 years. Departmental undergraduate students complete practicums and internships in the NDCDC. The position will report to the Director of the NDCDC who reports to the Department Chair.
Job Duties :
This position is for the Lead Toddler Teacher. This person in this position has to be a highly qualified early childhood teacher and implement a curriculum for children who have typical and atypical development and deliver a developmentally appropriate program with attention to the standards of the BK early childhood curriculum, state licensing requirements, and NAEYC standards. The teacher will plan and implement a model preschool program for an inclusive group of preschool children that complies with all health, safety, and educational best practices for young children; supervise and mentor undergraduate students assigned to the classroom for observation and practicum experiences; complete assessment and other reports as needed; and provide service to the profession, community, and university.
Minimum Education/Experience:
High school diploma or equivalency and one year of related childcare experience; or equivalent combination of training and experience.
License or Certification required by statute or regulation:
None
Preferred Experience, Skills, Training/Education:
Birth-Kindergarten Teaching license and successful experience in high quality, inclusive childcare program
