This is a project based position. The initial hiring appointment is from hire until no later than June 30, 2026 when the
position will then be evaluated for an extension.
Basic Function
The ERP Project Manager at Denison
University will spearhead the comprehensive implementation of a new Enterprise Resource Planning System (ERP) over a 2-year period.
Responsibilities include defining project scope and objectives, establishing timelines, assigning tasks, monitoring progress, and developing
comprehensive change management, communication, and training strategies.
This role demands strong change management skills and the
ability to lead across all levels of the organization. The Project Manager acts as the pivotal liaison between Denison and the
implementation partner, ensuring seamless collaboration and effective execution. They excel at system-oriented thinking, with a strength in
communicating vision and value and the ability to manage people, process, and deadlines for successful project
execution.
Essential Job Functions
Strategic Vision and Direction: Clearly articulate the project’s vision,
maintain a consistent focus on its purpose and direction. Collaborate closely with campus and functional leaders to align the project with
Denison’s mission and understand its complexities. Continuously gauge the needs and expectations of faculty, staff, and students, ensuring
their interests are addressed.
Team Leadership and Culture: Foster a team-based, mission-driven environment, emphasizing trust, open
communication, and creative thinking. Manage the relationship with the ERP vendor and coordinate closely with the implementation partner’s
project manager. Serve as Denison’s cross-functional project manager, utilizing materials and templates from the implementation partner to
guide the process. Champion a cohesive team effort through effective leadership and escalate risks to culture, collaboration, and
communication quickly.
Efficiency and Scope Control: Define and prioritize project tasks to ensure high-quality, timely, and
in-budget completion. Regularly monitor and control the project scope, minimizing unnecessary effort and costs. Manage resources
effectively, including budget, team members, and equipment.
Time Management and Scheduling: Oversee the project schedule, focusing on
key milestones and the critical path. Ensure on-time delivery through diligent scheduling, monitoring, alignment across project teams, and
adjustments to the project plan. Facilitate meetings and document outcomes as necessary.
Risk Management: Proactively identify
potential project risks, assess their impact, and devise strategies to mitigate or manage them. Provide expertise in managing various
project phases, including overseeing the issues and decisions log. Lead the response to issues as they arise, assembling and guiding the
relevant teams to resolve challenges efficiently, and escalating when needed.
Stakeholder Communication: Regularly communicate
project progress to the teams (internal and implementation partners) and stakeholders through scheduled reports and updates. Manage all
stakeholder interactions, ensuring clear and consistent communication throughout the project lifecycle.Tailor communications to different
campus constituencies, overseeing the creation and distribution of emails, blog posts, and in-person outreach.
