Our graduates are lifelong learners who thrive in their careers, embrace social responsibility and demonstrate leadership.
Recognized as a Top Regional College by U.S. News & World Report for eleven consecutive years and named a College of Distinction for five consecutive years, Dean serves approximately 1,200 full-time students and 400 part-time students and offers more than 50 combined bachelor’s and associate degree programs and specializations, as well as a robust schedule of continuing studies, EMT and certificate programs throughout the year.
Dean College is perfectly situated in Franklin, Massachusetts, which is conveniently located between Boston and Providence, Rhode Island and is accessible to Boston by commuter rail. The Dean College/Franklin station is only a five-minute walk from campus. Approximately 87 percent of the College’s student population lives on campus.
Dean provides a supportive academic environment that thrives on hands-on engagement and exceptional teaching. This community-wide commitment of always going the extra mile for students is known as The Dean Difference. Outside of the classroom, students participate in 16 athletic teams and more than 30 on-campus groups and organizations.
Ninety-six percent of our bachelor’s degree students are employed or enrolled in graduate school within 12 months of graduation. Alumni are hard at work in top-ranked graduate programs and are employed by organizations such as Universal Studios, Dell Technologies, Liberty Mutual, Kraft Sports + Entertainment, the Boston Ballet, and more.
What is The Dean Difference?
The Dean Difference isn’t any one thing. It’s not a program or a professor. It’s not a single class or a club. It’s the way our academics support networks and community overlap, interweave and magnify each other. Our difference unites us. It’s our secret formula. It’s the nucleus around which we orbit. It isn’t one thing, it’s everything
Job Description:
Dean College’s School of Business is looking for a dynamic, experienced, student-centered educator to teach an online, asynchronous internship experience course, during the Fall 2023 semester. The College seeks Adjunct Faculty who focus on experiential learning and active engagement in their classrooms. Adjuncts chosen to teach at Dean create a compelling and professional learning environment for students of diverse learning backgrounds.
We are seeking an adjunct instructor to teach DCA 300-BUS03: The Internship Experience. The adjunct pay rate is $3,300/section. Adjunct faculty are expected to hold one office hour each week for each section they teach. The Dean Career Advantage (DCA) program coordinators provide a course charter with course objectives as well as sample syllabi. All faculty are expected to make active use of the learning management system (Canvas) at least at a minimum level established by the College.
The course description is as follows: This course offers students on- or off-campus placement and an online component to integrate reflection with the practical knowledge gained from firsthand experience in an internship setting. This valuable experiential learning assists students in formulating career objectives and better prepares them for future employment. The following number of hours are required for the designated number of credits: 96 hours for 3 credits (8 hours per week for 12 weeks). Any additional credits will require 32 hours of internship work per credit.
This course is part of Dean College’s Dean Career Advantage (DCA), a holistic approach jointly developed by Academic Affairs and Student Development to assist students in preparing for life at Dean. Students work with their Success & Career Advisor, faculty, and staff to make the most of the college experience so that when they graduate, they have a resume of accomplishments and experiences that will make them as competitive as possible in the job and/or graduate school market. Through a series of career-preparation courses and career-intensive experiences required by every major, combined with co-curricular involvement, students will develop their career mindset – the ability to understand where they are now, see where they want to go next and design and implement a plan to get there.
All instructors will receive a course charter with course objectives and outcomes, as well as the syllabi used by other instructors teaching the same courses in the program. Initial training, as well as on-going support, is available for all DCA 300 instructors from the DCA team.
There is 1 section of this course available.
