Position Purpose

The Power and Equity Specialist will spearhead the development of core programming integrated into the campus-wide Sexual Violence Prevention Project (SVPP), a four-year sequenced undergraduate curriculum to prevent sexual violence at Dartmouth. The Power and Equity Specialist will work as a part of a multidisciplinary team to collaboratively and creatively develop, coordinate, and implement evidence-based programs and interventions focused on behavior and culture change to increase students using their power in positive ways to increase equity and belonging in order to fulfill the mission of the Student Wellness Center. This is a two-year term position with a potential for renewal.

We are building a comprehensive, 4-year sexual violence prevention curriculum for all undergraduate students at Dartmouth, and want to do the unprecedented.

We are located in the Student Wellness Center and staff well being is a core value of our work. Our office is human centered, highly supportive of self-care, and our philosophy is that we can’t increase the well being of our students without modeling those behaviors ourselves. A typical day in our office might include a walking meeting around Occom Pond, a colleague asking “How are you doing?” and really wanting to know, or having a moment of calm and creativity by filling in coloring books at staff meeting. Key Accountabilities

· Partners with the SVPP team and other Student Wellness Center and campus constituents to develop, design and create positive change programs and interventions based in theory, evidence, and best practices focused on behavior change to decrease power-based violence and inequality by increasing positive skills to use power in positive ways to foster equity and belonging (25%)

· Oversee the coordination of a cross-campus team for one of the four major behavioral outcomes of the SVPP. Spearhead strategic planning for designated outcome including creating logic models, mechanisms for program delivery, and implementation of large-scale culture change initiatives to prevent sexual violence and build experiences that are equitable, inclusive, and promote wellbeing and ethical leadership (25%)

· Implements robust portfolio including facilitating a high volume of programming for a diverse undergraduate population related to building skills that increase equitable interactions and inclusive environments, improve student wellbeing, promote ethical leadership, and decrease power-based violence (40%)

· Collaborate with students, staff, and faculty to develop and provide culturally inclusive programs incorporating issues of diversity and difference throughout all aspects of work with particular attention to centering voices of under-served, under-represented, and marginalized communities (e.g. African American, Asian American, faith-based, international, Latinx, LGBTQIA+, and Native American) and engaging men. (10%)

Required Qualifications – Education and Years Experience

· Bachelors plus 2-3 years’ experience or equivalent combination of education and experience

Required Qualifications – Skills, Knowledge and Abilities

· Bachelor’s degree in public health, social work, social justice education, cultural foundations of education, health education, higher education, health promotion, counseling or related field; or the equivalent combination of education and experience

· Two or more years of experience working in the areas of identity, power, privilege, bias, intersectionality, intergroup dialogue, dialoguing across difference, diversity and inclusion, social justice, restorative justice, cultural competency, sexual violence, public health, social work, wellness, health education, or related field

· Experience designing and facilitating interactive, skill-based workshops

· Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.Demonstrated ability to foster positive and productive relationships with a variety of stakeholders (e.g. students, staff, and faculty).

· High degree of flexibility, including the ability to work nights/weekends on occasion as needed.

Preferred Qualifications

· Master’s degree in public health, social work, social justice education, cultural foundations of education, health education, higher education, health promotion, counseling or related field Experience working in a higher education environment or with college-aged individuals.

· Ability to understand and articulate the intersection of power, identity, and social inequality

· Familiarity with aspects of relationship violence, stalking, sexual harassment and sexual assault

· Experience developing culturally inclusive programs and working with and/or advocating on behalf of marginalized people (e.g. African-American, Asian-American, Faith-Based, International, Latinx, LGBTQIA+, Native American).

· Excellent project management and organizational skills

· Training in or experience with Student Wellness Center philosophies and approaches (e.g., Motivational Interviewing, Dartmouth Bystander Intervention or Green Dot, etc.)

· Experience teaching or facilitating conversations in topics such identity, bias, privilege, power, sexual violence, cultural norms, respectful interactions, empathy, empowering others, modeling positive behaviors.
