Dakota State University invites applications for a full time, 9-month term (non-tenure track) position as Instructor and Director of Music, beginning fall 2022. The successful candidate will oversee the music activities at the university and will also teach courses such as music appreciation and introduction to sound design.Must be authorized to work in the United States. The Director of Music will have significant autonomy in choosing and directing each event (live concert, recording, etc.) and must be comfortable working independently. The music events could include large or small group ensembles, either instrumental or vocal. While there is no music major at DSU, music provides a creative outlet for students of all majors and enriches the intellectual climate on campus. Music is also an important component of the General Education curriculum as well as the Digital Sound Design major. Dakota State University has both large and small performance venues available as appropriate (including the 500 seat Dakota Prairie Playhouse).DSU accepts applications through an on-line employment site.
