Inside the Role
This position is part of the Cab Engineering Front wall and Mechanisms group.
We are the Feature Experience owners for all features related to entry door functionality, automatic windshield wipers, and windshields. We are also responsible for development of the Front wall Structural Cab in White, Door Mechanisms Modules, Windshields, Windshield Wiper/Washer systems, and Keyset systems for all Freightliner and Western Star vehicle platforms. The ideal candidate would be an experienced engineer who is a self-starting team player, passionate about automotive engineering, and ready to be this team’s expert leading and developing complex electro-mechanical systems in concert with local and global development teams.

Position offers a starting salary range of $124,000 – $158,000 USD
Pay offered dependent on knowledge, skills, and experience.

What You Drive at DTNA
You will have responsibility for and lead the development of all features in the group, including Remote/Proximity Door Lock/Unlock, Door Lock/Unlock and Lock Status, Door Window Position Control, Door Open Indication, Automatic Windshield Wiper Control, Windshield Heating, and Windshield Washing control systems. Development responsibilities will entail a holistic, concept-to-production approach to our door, windshield, and wiper feature systems.
You will work within the local and global engineering community and with Product Strategy to define the long-term technology roadmap and implementation strategy for our features.
You will coordinate with multiple stakeholders including other feature owners, software/hardware ECU developers, multiple packaging groups, functional safety, and Engineering Project Management to integrate and release our features and their support structures into series production.
You will work closely with the Hardware in the Loop Team and Product Validation Engineering to ensure robust system validation across all vehicle platforms.
You will be our system and feature expert, representing us in various forums across the company.
As a senior member of the group, you will lead and mentor other engineers, designers, and interns in engineering methods and processes, and in the identification of the root cause and resolution of complex problems.
You would be expected to improve our competitive market position by keeping abreast of state of the art developments in the commercial vehicle industry and applying that knowledge to new designs.
Knowledge You Should Bring
Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science or related field with 7+ years of experience
5 years of experience in Automotive ECU hardware, software, and feature development preferred
Experience with product / feature development and development processes
Ability to collaborate effectively with globally distributed teams & stakeholders
Demonstrated ability to motivate self and others via collaboration and good team work skills
Experience with ECU flash programming
Experience with identifying and solving the root cause of complex problems
Experience in using Vector tools (CANalyzer, CANoe) for troubleshooting
Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain a professional relationship with a supplier
Experience in developing and analyzing electrical circuits

Exceptional Candidates Might Have
Experience in model-based software development using MATLAB
Working knowledge of CAN & LIN data bus
Experience with collaboration tools Jira and Confluence
Working knowledge of DTNA documentation systems and DOORS / DOORS NG
