Summary
Develop regional and disease specific engagement strategies for the assigned therapeutic area(s) with patient advocacy groups in region US focused on specific disease areas. Contribute to direction of key advocacy partners in key US states and national PAGs; engage patient organizations focused on areas of most interest to Daiichi Sankyo’s vision for the future. Look for opportunities to collaborate and expand the partnership and help identify areas that Daiichi Sankyo can engage strategically in US.
Responsibilities
– Develop and implement patient engagement strategy in US based on the Global Advocacy Strategic Goals: Work collaboratively with patient engagement team members in US and cross functional groups across the Oncology portfolio, to implement vision of global advocacy strategies in working with key stakeholders internally and externally
Lead proactive approaches to managing and enhancing DS relationships with patient communities across US.
Serve as the US point of contact to build and maintain collaborative, compliant, and value adding long-term partnerships with key patient advocacy groups
Remain abreast of new developments in US regulatory, legal, policy and social media arenas that have an impact on the global advocacy function
– Educate internal US teams on the infrastructure of global advocacy center of excellence and how to best embed patient centric focus during key awareness months:
Implement short-and long-term tactical plans that showcase advocacy opportunities for specific disease areas of interest in US. Prioritize areas of focus based on launch timelines. Work closely with the Ex. Director, Patient Advocacy in implementing activities related to evidence generation and information sharing.
Acquire feedback and perspective from patients, families, medical professionals, policy makers, and others within the patient support community. Apply gained insights to business decisions related to addressing patient needs and providing impactful solutions and services that will support them in US.Serve as an internal resource in US to maximize disease awareness, decrease lag time to diagnosis and access to therapy
Help implement processes, systems, solutions, and tools that will contribute to the effectiveness and success of the global patient advocacy plans
Qualifications: Successful candidates will be able to meet the qualifications below with or without a reasonable accommodation.
Education Qualifications (from an accredited college or university)
– Bachelor’s Degree in science, social science or related field required
Experience Qualifications
– 5-7 years of progressive, related experience in a healthcare or social services required
– Prior experience either working with or working for patient advocacy organizations and related groups. Must have a broad network of established relationships with oncology advocacy groups in US required
– Demonstrated leadership and collaboration skills with a proven ability to build and maintain relationships with diverse groups of people and audiences preferred
– Strong practical sense to gather needs from different stakeholders and able to translate these needs into concrete and meaningful initiatives to benefit patients in Oncology preferred
– Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills including strong presentation skills; competent and confident in presenting to senior leadership. preferred
– Ability to influence in a proactive, objective and diplomatic manner within all levels of the company and outside community leaders to assess solutions and provide proposals preferred
– Works collaboratively, independently and with a sense of urgency preferred
– Demonstrated ability to work under pressure and manage multiple responsibilities preferred
– Ability to use both strategic and tactical approaches to problem-solving and multi-tasking preferred
– Expertise with online and offline strategies, tools, and techniques for research, engagement, collaboration, and feedback preferred
– Able to summarize complex medical and scientific concepts using layman’s terms to successfully communicate to target patient/advocate audience preferred
– Awareness of external trends and changes in regulation to proactively adjust internal processes preferred
– Ability to facilitate and influence decision making to drive results preferred
– Proven ability to drive pragmatic solutions to complex problems preferred
Travel
Ability to travel up to 30% to 50% of the time
