We are currently seeking an objective, highly skilled Contract Auditor. This person will add value and optimize financial operations through their systematic and disciplined approach to maximizing the effectiveness of projects, contracts, and risk management. Our ideal candidate will possess a thorough knowledge of accounting procedures, PeopleSoft, intermediate MS Excel skills, a commitment to excellence, and a sound, data-driven sense of judgment. The reason for this position is to review the performance of the full audit cycle of contracts and current projects. risk management and control management of operational effectiveness and financial reliability for Harris County toll roads using critical thinking/problem-solving skills.

Contract Auditor’s Basic Duties:

• Review the performance of contracts and their financial impact
• Systematic appraisal of financial contract records, management controls, policies, practices, and reports
• Investigate contract vendor complaints, and claims, analyze vendor contracts and validate financial documents
• Contract auditors must support and mentor and make recommendations on how to improve quality and satisfaction.
• Communicate your findings with stakeholders and management on audit results

Contract Auditor’s Qualifications, Skills, Experience:

• Strong database and PeopleSoft software experience
• Strong MS Office, MS Excel and MS Word
• BS degree in Accounting or Finance preferred
• Significant work experience as an internal auditor or senior auditor
• Advanced computer skills including MS Office, accounting software, and database
• Professional level communication to communicate with stakeholders
• Ability to consistently and accurately manipulate large amounts of data and compile detailed, clear reports
• Proven working knowledge of all applicable auditing standards and procedures, laws, rules, and industry regulations
• A high degree of aptitude regarding attention to detail and excellent analytical skills
• Ability to oversee risk management and control management to maximize operations’ effectiveness, financial reliability, and compliance
• Ability to consistently and accurately manipulate large amounts of data and to compile detailed, clear reports
• Proven working knowledge of all applicable auditing standards and procedures, laws, rules, and industry regulations
• A high degree of aptitude regarding attention to detail and excellent analytical skills
• Willingness to demonstrate leadership skills and make sound independent judgments
• Strong sense of commitment to compliance with all applicable directives and regulations
• Assessment skills needed to determine internal audit scope and develop annual plans
• Collaborative and organizational skills needed to obtain, analyze, and evaluate necessary accounting documentation, previous reports, data, flowcharts, etc.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills are needed to present reports that reflect the audit’s results and document the process
• Act as an objective source of independent advice to ensure validity, legality, and achievement of goals
• Focus and follow-through needed to conduct follow-up audits to monitor management’s interventions
• Enter audit findings into the contract management system during the life of the contracts Proven Ability to perform and control the full audit cycle
• Audit current contract/project files (both PDF docs & excel information).
• Ability to analyze, prepare and present audit reports
• Highly organized, attentive to detail, ethically sound
• Outstanding critical thinking skills and the propensity for analyzing data and finding discrepancies and errors
• Understanding of current auditing methods and procedures
• Strong mathematical and data collection/analysis skills
• Strong oral and written communication skills
• Efficient time management skills with the ability to balance multiple tasks at once
• Thorough knowledge of the Statement of Financial Accounting Standards (SFAS)
• Strong knowledge of Microsoft Suite and other accounting software
• Incredible attention to detail and high skill for analyzing data with a scrutinizing eye
• Must be able to pass drug and criminal screening
