SELECTION
PROCESS
Community College of Denver is seeking individuals with demonstrated commitment to creating an inclusive

Preliminary screening will be made on the basis of completed application packet submitted by candidate. Completed
application packet includes: a letter of interest of no more than five pages, addressing in general the items under “Primary Duties”
and specifically each item under “Minimum Qualifications”; an online application; resume; and transcripts. All
candidates, including current Community College of Denver employees must submit a complete application packet which includes all material
listed above.

GENERAL SUMMARY
This position will be specific for
Chemistry, Physics and Astronomy. The Laboratory Coordinator will perform all activities associated with lab preparation, i.e. preparation
of lab reagents, setting up lab equipment and supplies, ordering and purchasing materials, maintaining and repairing equipment, keeping labs
safe and clean, communicating with instructors concerning lab activities and scheduling, supervising hourly and work-study personnel,
developing and maintaining record keeping systems for supplies/materials and semester schedules, and developing and implementing both new
and improved lab activities for all chemistry, physics, and astronomy lab courses.
PRIMARY DUTIES
· Planning, preparation, and set-up of labs for Chemistry, Physics, and Astronomy classes
· Ordering/purchasing lab
materials including chemicals
· Budget tracking for Chemistry, Physics, and Astronomy (on-campus and online courses)
· Maintaining lab areas (ensuring safety and cleanliness) and lab equipment (including repair) for Chemistry, Astronomy, and
Physics laboratory spaces and classrooms
· Training and supervision of lab assistants
· Maintaining consistent
communications with all instructors regarding lab activities and scheduling
· Developing new lab activities, as well as
improving existing ones, for Chemistry, Physics, and Astronomy courses
· Developing and maintaining record keeping and
inventory systems for supplies, semester schedules and other laboratory issues
· Maintaining chemical inventories within
CISProLive software
· Coordinate with AHEC for the disposal of hazardous waste
Secondary Duties
· Participating member of the AHEC Laboratory Safety Committee (LSC)
· Participate in various community service
projects as they directly relate to CCD
· Attend applicable professional development activities and workshops.

Participation in college-wide committees as needed
· Assist in revising laboratory manuals, as needed
·
Assisting the Chemistry, Physics, and Astronomy departments as needed with lab organization and ordering supplies
Decision
Making:
· Plan and prioritize tasks to be accomplished to meet daily and weekly needs of labs
· Select
necessary materials to purchase for labs – considers budget limitations and prioritizes equipment needs
· Approve expenditures
of operating funds for supplies
· Hiring and training responsibilities for lab prep assistance
· Make necessary
improvements to lab activities
· Determine record keeping procedures
· Determine and review lab safety
guidelines and appropriate implementation
· May recommend new lab activities to incorporate into existing courses
· May assist in semester scheduling of labs
· May recommend monetary allocations in budget
MINIMUM
QUALIFICATIONS:
Any equivalent combination of education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities.
Education:
Master’s Degree in Chemistry/ Physics or closely related subject
Experience:
1-3 years of lab experience
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
•
Knowledge of educational laboratories: equipment, chemicals, solution preparation and handling, and extensive knowledge in laboratory safety
(including but not limited to chemical handling and storage)
• Proficiency in computers – able to use different programs, keep
track of ordering and inventory, assist in experimental development, etc…
• Highly organized and detail oriented
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Education:
Master’s Degree in Chemistry/
Physics
Experience:
• 3 years of lab experience (educational setting preferred)
• Teaching
experience in a community college setting
• Experience in managing a budget
• Familiarity with college level
chemistry and physics courses
Licensure/Certification:
• CPR, first-aid, or EMT-type
training/certificate

SALARY: $42,925.00 – $47,217.50 Annually
