The Brickman Lab at the Taub Institute for Research on Alzheimer’s Disease and the Aging Brain is currently recruiting a staff associate interested in neuroimaging, large-scale data processing and general study coordination. Primary responsibilities include MRI imaging data acquisition and analysis, data quality control, neuroimaging software development, and regular contribution to academic publications for studies related to cognitive aging and dementia/Alzheimer’s disease. The associate will be the ‘point person’ for multiple research projects and help establish, track, oversee, and monitor neuroimaging acquisition protocols, data transfer, and data accounting. They will work with limited PI supervision both collaboratively and independently in the integration of neuroimaging and behavioral data to investigate the potential roles of cerebrovascular disease.
Minimum Degree Required
Bachelor’s degree in specific research field and 4 years recommended
Qualifications
The successful applicant must have a background in neuroscience, psychology, biomedical engineering, computer science or related field. Substantial experience with human neuroimaging and strong programming skills (including Python, Linux, Matlab and R) are required.
Must be able to prioritize assignments and work independently, but also collaborate effectively with the team. The ability to exercise sound judgement and discretion, maintain a high level of confidentiality, and meet internal and external deadlines is essential. Must be highly organized, enthusiastic, and possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
In light of potential future collaborations with national and international researchers on Brazilian populations, the ideal candidate will be fluent in English and Portuguese.
Preferred Qualifications:
A Master’s degree, a strong background in neuroimaging or related field, and experience with scientific writing is desired. The ideal candidate has knowledge of neuroimaging analysis (Freesurfer, DTI, FSL, ASL, MRS) and can act as a resource for new team members.
