Upward Bound is a federally funded TRIO program that assists high school students from first-generation and low-income families in
developing the motivation and skills necessary to complete secondary school, enter postsecondary education and be successful. Upward Bound
offers participants advising, academic support, exposure to career and educational opportunities, and a residential summer academic program
and a college bridge program. The target area for the program includes high schools located in Pueblo County.

Job
Primary Duties
Manages program, ensuring provisions of the Upward Bound Grant are implemented and program maintains compliance with applicable state
and federal regulations.
Provides direct supervision of staff, evaluating performance and other human resources
functions.
Develops budget and oversees all expenditures of funds ensuring effective use and compliance with federal
regulations and institutional procedures.
Evaluates project performance through quantitative and qualitative measures.
Prepares annual performance report for the U.S. Department of Education. Provides regular updates on project performance to the Executive
Director of College Opportunity Programs/TRIO and other administrators at the University.
Oversees the recruitment and
selection of program participants. Participates in interviews of applicants for program and their parents. Final approval of all students
accepted into the program.
Conducts outreach in the community and on campus, including presentations and workshops
about program services and collaborative efforts with high school and college faculty and staff. May include transportation of students
using a 15-passenger van.
Plans and conducts staff development training, ensuring all professional staff, instructors,
residence advisors, mentors, site coordinators and tutors are properly trained.
Coordinates program operations with
other programs serving disadvantaged students.
Participates in professional development training.
