Under the direction of the Vice President, Academic Services, the Dean, Academic Services (Educational Support Services/Language and Communication Studies) will provide leadership, direction and administrative responsibility to a diverse and comprehensive academic services area charged with promoting and delivering programs and services that enhance student success. The dean has the primary responsibility to build, maintain, and expand the instructional support programs, Educational Support Services, Learning Resource Center and Language and Communication Studies Division. The dean will collaborate with academic departments, student services departments, faculty, and staff to support student success and completion in degrees, certificates and/or transfer to four-year institutions. The dean supervises administrators, staff, faculty and student tutors and manages comprehensive educational support services on all three campuses. The dean will provide leadership for the District’s Strategic Plan initiative to improve the rate at which students complete degrees, certificates and transfer objectives by integrating and aligning peer academic support programs. The dean manages programs and grants and ensures compliance with applicable laws, statutes, regulations, policies, and procedures connected to funding sources supervised by this position.
