JOB SUMMARY: As the Electroplater, you’ll be responsible for operating the electroplating tanks that coat steel tools with nickel and diamonds.

WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING:

• Inspecting all tools to ensure they meet integrity and quality standards
• Removing old nickel and diamonds from tools to be replated
• Operating the manual sandblast booth to create an optimal surface on the tool for nickel and diamond to adhere to
• Ensuring that the correct size of diamond particles is utilized for each tool
• Monitoring eight (8) electroplating baths simultaneously, checking the progress of the tools at set intervals
• Applying masking tape to portions of tools throughout the electroplating process to ensure the appropriate amount of nickel and/or paint is applied
• Inspecting all tools with a microscope to ensure proper diamond and nickel coverage
• Removing excess nickel from the tool
• Cleaning and polishing the tools after electroplating using the bench grinder or hand drill
• Assembling all retail parts to ensure they are complete
• Cleaning stripping tanks to recover diamonds removed from used tools
• Cleaning, sorting, and sizing reclaimed diamonds to be reused in production
• Assisting with the design of custom diamond tools, monitoring their performance, and working with the production personnel to improve the product

SKILLS & KNOWLEDGE:

• Ability to maintain a high level of concentration
• Ability to use fine motor skills; this position requires precision
• Must have good hand-eye coordination.
• Ability to perform a variety of duties, often changing from one task to another
• Ability to work independently, with little or no supervision.
• Excellent problem-solving and critical thinking skills
• Mechanically inclined
• Must have general math skills
• Must be able to read work orders or production tickets, which may include dimensional drawings.
• Ability to read a tape measure, imperial and metric.
• Work as a self-motivated team member who adheres to all safety protocols and is willing to cross-train as needed
