Summary
Provides leadership and supervision over campus security, intervention enforcement of laws and policy, and related public information duties that provide a safe environment for students, staff, and the public while on campus properties and District offices. Protects students and property by carrying out proactive programs and public safety processes. Researches, and implements traffic flow and parking regulations. Designs and develops schedules and surveillance routines for patrol of the campus, its grounds, and related facilities. Provides training on public safety matters. Provides training to employees assigned emergency operations duties.
Distinguishing Career Features
The Director of Campus Security serves in a supervisory management capacity, responsible for optimizing around-the-clock service delivery in a department that is housed at one campus requiring a security and safety presence on campus buildings, grounds, athletic, and parking facilities. Advancement to this position would require compliance with the qualifications of the position and be made through promotion from a position requiring leadership training and experience.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Education and Experience
The position typically requires a Bachelor’s degree or directly related military service from an accredited college or university in police science, criminal justice, public administration, or a closely related field. Graduation from a police standards academy and achieving the rank of Sergeant may serve as an acceptable alternative. Or, any combination of education and experience which would provide the required equivalent qualifications for the position. Law enforcement, security management, or emergency management.

Conditions of Employment
This recruitment is for 1 temporary contract, full-time, 12-months per year, Classified Management position. The work schedule is Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Flexible schedules and weekends might be necessary to address the needs of programs and job duties. The effective date of employment will be arranged with the supervisor.
