Plans, implements, and manages administrative tasks for the Teacher Residency Program. Evaluates the program and makes data-driven decisions, assists with program expansion efforts, and teaches in the program. Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor.
JOB DUTIES:
60% – Essential – Program Management: Recruit, advise, and communicate with residents, mentor teachers, and Clemson graduates as beginning teachers. Facilitate communication with various constituencies including district partners, students, faculty, college leadership, state agencies, alumni, and donors. Organize and lead meetings and seminars for residents, graduates, mentor teachers, school leaders, and university supervisors. Organize and facilitate a residency steering committee to select residents, select mentor teachers, match mentors and residents, match mentors and graduates, and implement and revise the program. Manage resources for the summer institute and other events. Work with the College’s PR team to disseminate information about the program.
20% – Essential – Teaching: Teach at least one course a semester for teacher residents and/or master teachers. Plan and co-teach with faculty for the Summer Mentor Teacher Institute.
10% – Essential – Field Placements: Place and monitor teacher candidates and collaborate with regional school district partners to identify potential field placements. Manage field placement experiences through school visits and collaboration with university supervisors and mentor teachers. Work with college personnel to support continuous improvement and accreditation.
10% – Essential – Program Evaluation: Collect and analyze program evaluation data (e.g., student achievement data, mentor matching effectiveness, teaching effectiveness data). Propose revisions to courses and the program based on program evaluation results. Communicate results to internal and external stakeholders.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Education – Bachelor’s Degree – Relevant program experience.
PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS:
Education – Master’s degree in education; previous teaching experience in K12 public education (five years minimum); experience mentoring and/or coaching pre-service or induction teachers OR a Doctorate in education; previous teaching experience in higher education.
