The Plan Reviewer provides review and inspection to University Facilities Planning Design and Construction. Reporting to the University Building Official, the Plans Reviewer pursues excellence while meeting the University’s goals in the built environment. Other duties as assigned.
JOB DUTIES:
50% – Essential – Reviews and approves construction plans and specifications for compliance with building, electrical, fire protection, gas, mechanical, plumbing, energy, and accessibility codes on wide-ranging projects, including renovation and new construction. Reviews design documents at the schematic, design development, and construction document phases to ensure consistent completeness, clarity, constructability, and code and regulatory compliance.
25% – Essential – Assists in developing University guidelines and standards. Participates in design meetings with project teams to review the project and pro-actively engage in the design progress. Receives, reviews and submits various reports and records.
20% – Essential – Inspects construction projects for compliance with design. Surveys existing campus facilities for condition and code assessment. Provides technical support and recommendations to staff and project managers.
5% – Essential – Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Education – High School Diploma or Equivalent – relevant experience in business management, public administration, or administrative services.
PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS:
Education – Bachelor’s Degree in architecture, engineering, landscape architecture, construction science or related field. Prior experience within the construction industry. Experience with institutional/academic building types and large-scale construction programs. Registered South Carolina Architect, Professional Engineer, Landscape Architect, Builder, Contractor, Certified Building Official or Master Code Professional.

Expected Salary Range: ($ 45,530.00 – $ 65,000.00)

Required to maintain/resume essential support functions, deliver direct care services, and/or provide recovery support before normal operations resume. Some positions in this category may be required to work remotely or be on-call.
