The Director leads a statewide team in implementing a comprehensive menu of advocacy and action initiatives to support and improve outcomes in a broad range of PK-12 STEM teaching and learning settings across South Carolina under the auspices of the College of Engineering, Computing and Applied Sciences.
JOB DUTIES:
30% – Essential – Mentor/Leader:
Provides support and guidance to individuals and sub-groups within SCCMS to foster professional growth and meet organizational goals. Promotes dialog among staff toward vision and goal setting. Models efficacy, flexibility, craftsmanship, interdependence and consciousness (See Cognitive Coaching, Arthur Costa and Robert Garmston)
30% – Essential – Manager:
Responsible for compliance with all University and College guidelines and protocols related to finances, human resources, marketing, branding, fundraising, etc.
15% – Essential – Collaborator:
Seeks out internal and external programs and individuals with which to partner on action and advocacy initiatives with special emphasis on programs funded by the SC Education Improvement Act (EIA). Fosters engagement in the SC STEM Learning Ecosystem across all sectors and demographics.
15% – Essential – Communicator:
Promotes the PK-12 STEM action and advocacy efforts of SCCMS, its partner organizations and other entities serving SC teachers, schools and learners to local, state, and national audiences. Reports on the activities of SCCMS to internal and external stakeholders including a Board of Advisors, government officials and funding agents.
10% – Essential – Data Analyst:
Analyzes internally and externally produced data, research, and reports to inform organizational practices and improve intended outcomes.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Education: Bachelor’s Degree
Licenses: Drivers License Class D normal Work Experience: 3+ years in leadership role in STEM education or in an education focused non-profit or business setting.
PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS:
Education: Master’s Degree in a field related to PK-12 STEM education; Science, Technology, Engineering and/or Mathematics with a focus on PK-12 education
Licenses/Certifications: Cognitive Coaching training, Certified Nonprofit Professional
Work Experience: 5+ years in a leadership role in STEM education or in an education focused non-profit.

Required to respond during an emergency closure or modified operations in order to provide the University’s initial response to the emergency situation, including the execution of mission essential functions. Some positions in this category may be required to work remotely or be on-call.
