Responsible for the direct oversight, supervision, & strategic planning of all aspects of Event Services. Provides
supervision to all student and professional staff members and events that are managed by Event Services staff. Works
under limited supervision and must be capable of high level problem solving & teamwork. Other duties as assigned.
JOB DUTIES:
40% – Essential – Supervision & Strategic Planning:
Directly hires, trains, evaluates and supervises student and professional staff within Event
Services. Provides effective leadership and professional development opportunities. Ensures
that staff have a clear understanding of their responsibilities, roles and how their work supports
the success of the broader team. Using needs assessment, benchmarking and best practices,
develops strategic plans regarding processes, trainings and services offered.
25% – Essential – Event Planning & Management:
Oversees all reservations & requests (within and beyond CR&E venues) needing event planning and
management services. Works with the Assistant Directors of Event Services to assign events to professional
and student event coordinators to coordinate event logistics with clients, as applicable. Ensures collaborative
planning & communication with departmental partners (i.e. reservations, venue & technical services, etc.)
and third party vendors to ensure a seamless system for delivering excellent service throughout the process.
20% – Essential – Student Development:
Works autonomously and has independent discretion to design, coordinate and implement Student Event
Coordinator (SEC) trainings that incorporates departmental resources and expectations. Collaborates with the
business services area of CR&E in the on-boarding of the new SEC’s. In support of CR&E’s commitment to learning
and development through student employment, ensures that all levels of student staff within CR&E are
appropriately prepared and supported to be successful in their assigned roles including conducting monthly student
manager meetings. Continues to build relationships and looks for ways to increase academic partnerships.
10% – Essential – University & Division Events:
Assists the Director of CR&E with planning, oversight, support, and evaluation of high
profile division and university events including institutional graduations, Doctoral
Hooding ceremonies, dignitaries, VIP visitors & speakers and other special events.
Participates in planning meetings, division of responsibilities, communication,
coordination of vendors, and day of event execution.
5% – Essential – Administrative:
Responsible for evaluation, interpretation and creation of policies and procedures that will
impact departmental and university standards and practices. Participates in department,
division and university committees as needed. Serves as a contributor to the assessment and
reporting processes of CR&E. Actively seeks and supports new and on-going collaborative
opportunities.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Education – Bachelor’s Degree and relevant program experience
PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS:
Education – Master’s Degree in Event Management, Higher Education, Management
Work Exp 3 -5+ years in event coordination, supervision of professional staff, and student
development
