Position Summary: This individual will provide a full range of services to support the efficient ad client-centered functioning of the Counseling Center as well as provide secondary support for the Student Health Center’s services. This individual will be the primary point of contact for Counseling Center requests for services, assist clinical staff with administrative tasks including the scheduling of routine and crisis appointments, work closely with the Director of Counseling to help ensure efficient functioning of the office, and assist in managing a range of projects. In this role, this individual must be able to address a range of duties and priorities, manage time in the context of a fast paced environment, and respond to phone a face to face concerns and requests. An ability to communicate clearly, professionally, and in a timely manner with staff, as well as with students in crisis is critical.
General Purpose: The Administrative Assistant-Counseling is a critical component to managing the workflow at the Student Health and Counseling Center (SHAC), having integral involvement in scheduling of both counseling and medical appointments, facilitating communication between students, staff, and key Clarkson Community stakeholders, while providing consistent professional customer service. The Administrative Assistant provides a wide range of administrative support services including receptionist, clerical, and project management. In addition, they assist with SAHC compliance regulations, such as immunization compliance.

Essential Skills: Strong problem solving skills, comfort working with general office equipment, ability to function in a fast-paced environment with multiple responsibilities requiring prioritizing safety issues, managing multiple staff schedules, and issues that arise with significant urgency. Ability to manage angry, upset, ill, or in crisis students with respect and ability to deescalate on phone or in person.
Education:
Minimal Qualifications: High School Diploma/GED
Experience:
Minimal Qualifications: 2 years’ experience providing receptionist or clerical support, or position with similar duties or skill requirements; strong written and verbal communication skill; comfort in using a range of computer software programs; strong time-management skills and proven ability to manage multiple projects;
Preferred Qualifications: experience with individuals experiencing behavioral and or physical health concerns
