Job Description:
The Clark University American Language and Culture Institute (ALCI) seeks qualified individuals interested in part-time ESL teaching positions. These positions require instructors to teach academically focused English to diverse groups of students enrolled in the Clark University EAS (English for Academic Success) and Pathway programs. Classes meet in-person several times a week and require semester-long commitment.
ALCI is a department within the Clark University School of Professional Studies that specializes in preparing students for academic and university life in the U.S. Courses range from traditional ESL curriculum to practical cultural- and social-based lessons intended to help students navigate the nuances of everyday communication and expectations that will be met in a North American university setting. We pride ourselves in providing both exceptional instruction and guidance for students whose first language is not English as they transition into their new life in the U.S.
Requirements:
– Master’s degree in TESOL, Education, Applied Linguistics, Linguistics or related field
– 3+ years experience teaching English to students of diverse linguistic backgrounds
– TESOL/TEFL certification
– Knowledge of Canvas or other LMS preferred
– Willingness to learn and use Canvas for organization, assignments and record keeping
– Ability to commit to a 14-week semester program
– Exceptional cultural awareness and intercultural communication skills
