This is accomplished by generating and managing content for social media posts and campaigns, creating digital newsletters, online blogs and news briefs, updating websites and other digital media platforms.
This position will also work with destination partners to identify, develop, write and edit communication and marketing about Allen partners to planners and regional visitors.
Other duties include graphic design, photography, and videography, as well as meeting with other City of Allen departments on cross-promotion efforts, supporting special events, and responding to visitor and citizen communication.
This position does not provide direction to other employees.
Essential Functions This information is intended to be descriptive of the key responsibilities of the position.

Assists with development and execution of marketing strategy by researching, benchmarking, messaging and planning content for multiple audiences (including meeting planners, business and leisure travelers and citizens) across several media platforms.
Handles digital media activities for the Allen Convention & Visitors Bureau (CVB) by preparing and disseminating electronic information; updating the CVB social media platforms; creating info graphics; developing editorials, assisting with all social media campaigns for the CVB and engaging with destination visitors and citizens on social media channels.
Uses design software programs to create visuals and related content for use on digital platforms.
Generates monthly analytic reports regarding content performance on social media platforms and traffic on the CVB website.
Uses this information to continually optimize digital strategy.
Supports CVB events and activities which may include attendance at meetings, assistance with special projects, print material and other duties as assigned.
Coordinates with stakeholders, partners and other City staff to cross promote events and increase reach.
Attends events to develop live and cataloged footage for use in social media campaigns and digital platforms.
Utilizes various content curation and management platforms to maximize social sharing, visitor engagement and influencer strategies on social media channels and search engine optimization and best practices for website.
Understands all aspects of the destination brand and how to effectively and consistently represent the brand across all digital platforms and channels.
Maintains the Allen CVB’s graphic identity guidelines by following and enforcing proper uses of logos, fonts, colors and other branded material.
Job Requirements Education & Experience Work requires broad knowledge in a general professional or technical field.
A typical way to obtain the required qualifications would be:
Bachelor’s degree plus two (2) or more years of relevant work experience; OR Associate degree plus six (6) or more years of relevant work experience; Certification and Other Requirements Valid Class C Driver’s License Overall Physical Strength Demands Sedentary:
Exerting up to 10 lbs.
occasionally or negligible weights frequently; sitting most of the time.
Supplemental Information Reading Advanced – Ability to read literature, books, reviews, scientific or technical journals, abstracts, financial reports, and/or legal documents.
Ordinarily, such education is obtained in at the college level or above.
However, it may be obtained from experience and self-study.
Math Basic – Ability to perform the four basic arithmetic operations.
Ordinarily, such education is obtained in elementary school up to high school.
However, it may be obtained from experience and self-study.
Writing Advanced – Ability to write editorials, journals, speeches, manuals, or critiques.
Ordinarily, such education is obtained in at the college level or above.
However, it may be obtained from experience and self-study.
Managerial Receives limited directions.
The employee normally performs the duty assignment according to his or her own judgment, requesting supervisory assistance only when necessary.
The assignment may be reviewed upon completion.
Performance is reviewed periodically.
Supervisory / Organizational Control No responsibility for the direction or supervision of others.
