CertainTeed® is North America’s leading brand of exterior and interior building products, including roofing, siding, windows, fence, decking, railing, trim, foundations, pipe, insulation, gypsum, ceilings, and access covers. We are currently hiring for the position of Production Operator at our Lakewood Ceilings facility.

Under the direction of the shift supervisor, the Production Worker is responsible for producing, designing, and crafting wood ceiling tiles by operating specialized equipment and using specialized tools. Details for the position are listed below.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

• Set up, operate, and tend drill presses, lathes, shapers, routers, sanders, planers, and wood nailing machines.
• Determine the best method of shaping/assembling parts working from shop drawings, blueprints, or supervisor’s instructions.
• Cut, shape, and smooth wooden parts.
• Verify dimensions using caliper or rule.
• Add fasteners and adhesives and connect the pieces to form a complete unit.
• Sand products using sander or sandpaper
• Set up operate and tend UV equipment for UV coating application
• Stain or coat products with lacquer or varnish.
• Complete all stages of the woodworking process.
• Ensure wood isn’t warped, cracked, or swollen.
• Apply paint to raw wood.
• Performs other related duties that contribute to the success of the operation as assigned by the supervisor.

OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Follows all safety policies, procedures, and programs; is responsible for individual safety and the safety of others.
• Establishes and maintains Company housekeeping standards.
• Abides by the policies, procedures, and work rules established by the plant.

MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIRED

• High school diploma, GED, or 2-3 years manufacturing experience.
• Ability to work in a team-based environment with little to no supervision.
• Ability to clearly communicate both verbally and in writing
• Good reasoning/mechanical aptitude.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY

• No Supervisory responsibilities

WORKING CONDITIONS(Indicate amount of travel, unusual work – hours/shifts, or environmental conditions).

• Normal work hours with occasional optional as well as mandatory overtime necessary to meet deadlines
• Normal office and manufacturing plant environment may include exposure to dust, industrial solvents, liquids, and other materials.
• The working environment will extend to both hot and cold conditions

PHYSICAL DEMANDS(List only physical requirements that are essential to the position and/or cannot be easily accommodated.)

• Must be capable of wearing Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) necessary to comply with government and company safety standards
• Job includes tasks that require bending, lifting materials weighing up to 50 lbs., twisting, gripping, and stair climbing.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $17.00 – $19.00 per hour
