Position summary:
The HR Assistant provides support and assistance in developing internal HR initiative, maintain initiatives and strives to make progress towards current/working initiatives set forth by the HR Manager. The HR Assistant also provides support and customer service for all employees.
Essential Functions and Duties
Administrative:
· Answer phones and routes calls to appropriate person
· Processes/prepares outgoing and incoming mail
· Schedules meetings for management team
Recruitment/New Hire Process
· Assist hiring managers through all steps of the hiring process and systems
· Maintains background check progress
Record Maintenance
· Creates new employee file
· Maintains current HR files and database both electronically and hardcopy
· Performs file audits to ensure that all required employee documentation is collected and maintained
Special Projects
· Creates, develops, modifies, and updates a variety of documents including employee handbook, department newsletter, etc.
· Other duties as assigned
Non-Essential Functions and Duties
· Occasional running of office errands
· Supply ordering
Education and Experience
· High school diploma or equivalent; Bachelor’s degree in HR Management, Business or related field preferred
· One year of general office administration
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
· Basic knowledge of human resource policies and procedures
· Knowledge of administrative functions, including phones, files, reports, correspondence, presentations, etc.
· Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite; experience with HRIS and payroll systems preferred
· Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to make presentations and interact with employees and managers at all levels
· Detail oriented with the ability to handle multiple responsibilities and priorities while maintaining deadlines
· Excellent customer service skills
Physical Demands
To successfully perform the essential duties of this position, an individual must be able to sit at a desk for four or more hours a day, and use office equipment, including phones and computer keyboards, for four or more hours per day. Individuals must be able to engage employees over the phone and in-person by voice. Regular attendance is an essential function of the job. Pay: $17.00 – $20.00 per hour
