POSITION OBJECTIVE
The Admission Counselor at the School of Medicine serves a pivotal role in the admissions process, with a focus on applicant recruitment and admissions operations. This role also serves as a primary contact for prospective medical students, providing comprehensive guidance on the medical school’s admissions procedures and programs and providing outreach to potential applicants and to premedical advisors. The Admissions Counselor is responsible for reviewing applications, conducting evaluative interviews, strategically planning recruitment activities based on data analysis, and cultivating relationships with medical school applicants and pre health advisors.

CONTACTS
Department: Continuous interactions with other colleagues within medical education, including faculty and staff.
University: Frequent interactions with school of medicine faculty and premedical and graduate students. Occasional interactions with undergraduate pre health advisors and undergraduate admissions staff. Infrequent contact at administrative forums and human resources information sessions. Represent the school of medicine at meetings pertaining to university admissions processes as needed.
External: Continuous interactions with constituents, both in-person and via phone/email/social media including prospective applicants, current applicants, interviewees, and pre-med advisors across the US to promote and provide information about the school and the application process.
Students: Frequent interactions with current medical students who are engaged in the admissions process. Frequent informal interactions daily.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY
None.
QUALIFICATIONS
Experience: 1 to 2 years of professional work experience required, preferably in admissions, health professions advising, or student affairs and/or strong foundation in interviewing and counseling skills.
Education: Bachelor’s degree required.

WORKING CONDITIONS
General office working environment. Occasional evenings and weekends required. This position is eligible for the staff hybrid work program.
This position is eligible for hybrid work arrangement up to two remote days per week at the discretion of the department. New employees may begin a hybrid schedule upon approval from the supervisor, successful completion of an orientation period and signing the remote work checklist certification form.
