Job Overview
The Director for Student Inclusion and Engagement (focus on
Intercultural Student Initiatives) serves as a leader and key strategist in the development and management of diverse culturally focused
student support initiatives that provide transformative engagement opportunities connected to the collegiate experience. Provides managerial
oversight for the Cross-Cultural Center, Black Student Center, American Indian Student support programs/Center and Asian, Pacific Islander,
and Desi American (APIDA) Student support programs/Center. Leads departments to address barriers which impact academic success and
contributes to student access, retention, and graduation rates. Collaborates with internal and external stakeholders, advocates for
students, educates the campus on promising practices, promotes holistic student success and efforts which positively impact a sense of
belonging within the CSUSM community.
The Director provides supervision and development to professional and student staff. Manages
complex budgets including State funding, grants, and philanthropic donations. Ensures compliance with state and federal guidelines. Serves
as a member of the Student Life Management Team, Division of Student Affairs Leadership Team, strategically partners with the Office of
Inclusive Excellence and Community Relations and University Engagement and will lead and/or participate on university committees. When
appointed, the Senior Director provides divisional leadership by proactively and responsively responding to, and facilitating campus
conversations around, critical campus-based student concerns.

This is a full time, exempt position in the Management Personnel Plan (MPP). MPP positions serve at
the pleasure of the President.
This position is eligible for a broad range of benefits, including medical, dental, vision, life and
disability insurances, retirement (CalPERS), tuition waiver, vacation and sick leave. In addition, 14 paid holidays are offered each year;
13 scheduled on specific days and a Personal Holiday that may be taken any time during the year.

Anticipated Hiring Salary Range: $7,900 – $9,167 per
month
CSU Classification Salary Range: $4,583 – $14,713 per month
Salary is commensurate with the background and experience
of the individual selected.
