TELECOM ANALYST

Salary Range: $3470 – $6681/Monthly
Work Schedule: Full-Time, Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.; some nights and weekends may be required. Temporary appointment expires on or before one year from date of hire, may be extended, may become permanent; non-exempt classification.
Essential Functions: Under the direct supervision of the Manager, Network/PBX Operations, the incumbent provides support for the operations, administration, and maintenance activities of the University’s telecommunications systems. The incumbent is responsible for defining, improving, and delivering telecommunications services for campus users through a high level of professionalism, customer service, and interpersonal skills. The incumbent is also responsible for the planning and coordinating resources related to telecommunications projects, including the migration towards an IP-based phone system. Incumbent works directly with departments and vendors to assess customer needs and coordinate the resources required to deliver solutions. Incumbent processes monthly usage and equipment chargebacks to campus departments and other periodic tasks.
Required Qualifications & Experience: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, or other related fields from a four-year accredited college or university. An additional four years of relevant work experience may substitute for the required education on a year for year basis. The ideal candidate will be a self-starter, work autonomously and take initiative with minimal supervision. Incumbent must possess: experience providing technical support, data gathering and analysis; proficiency in MS Excel and Word; general knowledge of telecommunications operations and basic network connectivity; knowledge of TCP /IP, SIP protocols and troubleshooting; knowledge of enterprise telephony solutions and operations; strong communications skills: verbal, written and active listening skills: strong customer service and interpersonal skills: patience, attentiveness, compassion, professionalism; organizational and project planning skills; and analytical skills, including the ability to respond quickly to problems, prioritize actions, and quickly initiate corrective action. Ability to: prepare professional documentation; monitor many service aspects simultaneously without loss of data integrity or security; and learn new concepts quickly. Demonstrated interest and ability to work in a multicultural/multiethnic environment. A background check (including a criminal records check) must be completed satisfactorily before any candidate can be offered a position with the CSU. Desired Qualifications: Project management. Experience with: enterprise telephony solutions, including VoIP and traditional PBX· systems; network and TCP /IP; call accounting software, billing and reporting; and work order control software. Knowledge of structured cabling.
