SENIOR DIRECTOR FOR PLANNED GIVING
California State University, Los Angeles, invites applications for the above Administrator II position.

The Position: The Senior Director for Planned Giving is part of the fundraising team in University Advancement and is responsible for securing planned gifts to the University. The successful candidate must be a results-driven and highly motivated fundraiser with a proven track record of fundraising success with five, six, and seven figure philanthropic gifts. The incumbent should have a clear understanding of the role that philanthropy can play in fulfilling an individual’s personal and financial objectives as well as the objectives of the University and will develop and explain various philanthropic gift vehicles and options that will help achieve the donor’s charitable goal. The incumbent will: identify, cultivate, and solicit major, deferred, and outright gift prospects for the support of college and University programs and services; conduct appropriate donor recognition and stewardship activities in collaboration with the senior executive director of donor engagement and special initiatives; prepare written fundraising materials and proposals for presentation to potential donors; prepare and implement an annual development plan which encompasses fundraising goals and priorities; prepare periodic reports; be a self-initiator of projects, work with volunteers, utilize a computerized database system to manage prospects, donor contacts, and gifts in accordance with the University Advancement office requirements, and Development Policies and Procedures.
Required Qualifications & Experience: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university and seven years of experience in front line fundraising, with a proven track record of success in planned giving and proficiency with planned giving vehicles and techniques. Must have knowledge of federal tax law and its application to estate planning and philanthropy. Knowledge of the sale or purchase and transfer of securities, tangible personal property and real estate property for gift purposes. Working knowledge of computer systems such as Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, Access), Raiser’s Edge, and Crescendo (or similar planned giving platform). Must possess a valid CA Driver’s license. The incumbent must possess the highest level of integrity, work ethic, and respect for confidentiality. Have strong interpersonal, strategic thinking, communication and writing skills and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and interact with all levels of the organization. The incumbent must have a demonstrated interest and/or ability in working in a multicultural/multiethnic environment. A background check (including a criminal records check) must be completed satisfactorily before any candidate can be offered a position with the CSU. Desired Qualifications: Master’s degree. Experience in higher education fundraising and campaign experience. Working knowledge of Raiser’s Edge Database system or other donor management system. Proficiency or ability to learn and adapt to newly subscribed planned giving platforms. A Certified Specialist in Planned Giving (CSPG) or commitment to obtaining one while in current role.
Compensation: Salary is commensurate with experience and qualifications. A comprehensive benefits package is provided.
Appointment: The Administrator II appointment will be made under the guidelines for management and supervisory employees of the California State University. All rights and benefits associated with this appointment are governed by the Management Personnel Plan.
