ADMINISTRATIVE SUPPORT COORDINATOR I
Administrative Support Coordinator I
Nutrition and Food Science
Salary Range: $3,276 – $5,148/Monthly
Work Schedule: Full-Time; Monday to Friday 8.00 a.m. to 5.00 p.m.; non-exempt; temporary 12-month appointment; may be extended, may become permanent.
Essential Functions: Under the direction of the chair of the department, the Administrative Support Coordinator I will perform clerical and administrative functions and provide office support for the Department of Nutrition and Food Science. The Administrative Support Coordinator will: perform front office duties such as answering phone and e-mail and answering questions from students, faculty, and visitors; perform general clerical duties, such as organization of files and correspondence with current and potential students; build and maintain the schedule of classes, including documentation of faculty workload; maintain and manage expenditures and balances of department accounts and faculty grants; coordinate faculty travel; communicate and serve as a liaison with agencies to coordinate annual/semester clinical placements for nursing students; maintain student applications to the programs; maintain inventory of and purchase department equipment and supplies; and coordinate and oversee student assistants.
Required Qualifications & Experience: Equivalent to three years of general office experience, which included providing ongoing work coordination and/or lead responsibilities with notable accountability for the work results of support staff or unit administrative function. Thorough knowledge of English grammar, punctuation, and spelling; ability to handle multiple work unit priorities and projects; thorough knowledge of office software and ability to use a broad range of technology and systems; ability to independently apply a wide variety of policies and procedures where specific guidelines may not exist; working knowledge of budget policies and procedures; ability to draft and compose correspondence and standard reports; ability to effectively handle a broad range of interpersonal contacts, including those at a higher level and those sensitive in nature; ability to troubleshoot office administration problems and respond to all inquiries and requests related to work area; ability to analyze operational and procedural problems and develop, recommend, and evaluate proposed solutions; familiarity with the software used campuswide or willingness to learn and use those software applications; and the ability and/or interest in working in a multicultural/multiethnic environment.

Preferred Qualifications & Experience: Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university (or equivalent). Successful experience working in the office of a complex academic department or school. Experience working in higher education and working with university students.
