ACCOUNTANT II
Controller’s Office
Salary Range: $4161 – $8030/Monthly
Work Schedule: Full-Time, Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.; exempt classification.
Essential Functions: Under the general supervision of the Accounting Manager, candidate will direct and oversee day-to-day activities of the Auxiliary Accounting and Reporting area, which includes financial services for Associated Students Inc., CSLA Foundation, Alumni Association, University Auxiliary Services, and University-Student Union. The incumbent will independently participate in the preparation and review of internal and GAAP financial statements, interpreting regulations, and communicating with internal and external entities, and participate in annual financial audit. Focusing mainly on overseeing the Foundation, incumbent will work to research, resolve, and reconcile various accounts and issues.
Required Qualifications & Experience: Equivalent to a bachelor’s degree with a major in accounting, business administration, finance or a closely related field or a combination of education and experience which provides the required knowledge and abilities. Two years of full-time progressively responsible professional accounting experience. Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office suite, particularly MS Excel. Thorough knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP); working knowledge of Nonresident Alien tax regulations; and general knowledge of the GLACIER database system. Applicants must possess excellent communication, customer service and interpersonal skills. Must have the ability to independently interpret applicable rules, regulations, policies, and procedures, and apply accounting theory and practices based on generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP). Must have the ability to prepare reconciliations and to investigate and resolve errors, discrepancies, make correcting entries. Demonstrated interest and ability to work in a multicultural/multiethnic environment. A background check (including a criminal records check) must be completed satisfactorily before any candidate can be offered a position with the CSU. Failure to satisfactorily complete the background check may affect the application status of applicants or continued employment of current CSU employees who may apply for the position. Travel and access to a reliable form of transportation is required.
Desired Qualifications: Five years of progressively responsible professional accounting experience. PeopleSoft experience. Proficiency with Microsoft applications. Working knowledge GASB/FASB experience.
