Flinn Scientific, is seeking a Cabinetmaker. We are looking for the very best candidates who are dedicated to working safely yet efficiently and can work on many production orders at once. You will set up and operates variety of woodworking machines and uses various hand tools to fabricate and repair wooden cabinets and other wooden articles by performing the following duties.

What You Need to be Successful

• High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

• Demonstrates proficiency in operating basic hand tools including tape measures, Pneumatic staplers, sanders, drills and other woodworking tools.
• Demonstrates proficiency in operating basic stationary machinery common to woodworking operations including various saws (i.e. table saw, miter saw, radial arm saw, etc.) and other such woodworking machinery.
• Possesses basic mathematical skills including ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

The Cabinetmaker Day-to-Day:

• Studies blueprints or drawings of articles to be constructed or repaired, and woodworking operations to be performed.
• Places parts in specified relationship to each other.
• Works at different work stations as production needs require.
• Works on line where tasks vary as different model of same article moves along line.
• Sets up and operates woodworking machines such as power saws, jointer, sanders, and shapers to cut and shape parts from wood stock.
• Trims component parts of joints to ensure snug fit.
• Bores holes for insertion of screws or dowels.
• Staples, screws, glues, fits and clamps or otherwise fastens parts together to form complete unit.
• Drives nails or other fasteners into joints at designated places to reinforce joints.
• Sands and scrapes surfaces and joints of articles to prepare articles for finishing.
• Assists in finishing of assembled articles by wiping stain, moving hanging parts, spackling and/or sanding over sprayed finishes.
• Installs hardware such as hinges, catches, and drawer pulls.
• Performs other duties as assigned or requested.

• Ability to stand the majority of the workday
• Wear appropriate safety shoes and other personal protective equipment where necessary
• Regularly required to stand; walk; use hands & fingers, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear
• Occasionally required to climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. You will regularly lift and/or move 30-50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 150 pounds with assistance
• The warehouse temperature fluctuates with outside temperatures. Manufacturing/Warehouse environment and while facility is heated it is not air-conditioned.
• While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts and dust or airborne particles, which requires safety glasses to be worn at all times while on the shop floor.
• The employee is occasionally exposed to vibration.
• Employee may also be required to wear a respirator when assisting in the Finishing room.
• The noise level in the work environment is usually loud and hearing protection is required.
