COMMUNITY SUPPORT SPECIALIST (YOUTH CSTAR)

  • Full-time Monday-Friday, days
  • Independence, Missouri

What you’ll get to do as a Community Support Specialist:

  • Provide support and activities to clients through an organized treatment plan designed to ease an individual’s immediate and continued adjustment to community living. You’ll be working in the community which will include clients homes, clinics, and other places around the community as part of your regular assigned case load.
  • Utilize a supportive, educational approach to promote improved functioning to meet the needs of the client, the goals of treatment while encouraging recovery and increased resiliency.
  • Provide and/or coordinate a comprehensive follow-up to all clients for whom he/she has been responsible, including follow up for missed appointments, and conducting outreach and engagement as needed.
  • Use advanced knowledge of psychological concepts, evidenced based interventions and coordinating delivery of mental health services with other services provided by practitioners and community partners.
  • Use specialized knowledge of behavioral science principles such as:Motivational interviewing, Reinforcement, Operant conditioning, Social norming, Attitude change, Persuasion, Hierarchy of needs, Interpersonal and group dynamics, Cognitive processing, Attentional processes, Personality and empirically supported behavioral intervention strategies.

Requirements:

  • Must be at least 21 years of age
  • A reliable vehicle & acceptable recent driving record

    Rehabilitation Counseling

  • Associate of Applied Science in Behavioral Health Support degree from an approved institution

  • Work experience in a related human servicesfield may substitute for educational requirements. *Related fields may include direct support such as case management, residential support, developmentally disabled support, vocational rehabilitation, and more. Four years of qualifying experience minimum or a combination of education and experience equaling four years required.
