GENERAL SUMMARY:
Performs a variety of imaging procedures and is responsible for patient safety protocols. Functions as the first line interface with customers in the successful accomplishment of their imaging needs. Participates in CIHQ and department quality improvement activities.
PRINCIPAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
1. *Commits to the mission, vision, beliefs and consistently demonstrates our core values.
2. *Responsible for the care and safety of patients undergoing treatment and use of equipment to minimize hazards of electric shock, burns and extraneous radiation or radiofrequency burns to patients.
3. *Determines most suitable anatomical posture and positions and shields patients accordingly, including hearing protection within the MRI unit.
4. *Uses computerized tomography and radiographic equipment to capture diagnostic images of patients’ internal organs and tissues.
5. Performs regular warm-up sequences on the CT scanner and X-ray equipment to prolong the life of the tubes.
6. *Performs all types of CT, CTA, CTV, MRI, MRV, and MRA procedures safely.
7. Performs venipuncture.
8. *Evaluates X-Ray, CT and MRI scans to determine whether they are of good technical quality.
9. *Analyzes patient histories and completes screenings for metal, implants and devices.
10. Able to assess patient pain interfering with imaging procedure; makes appropriate physician contact for intervention.
11. Coordinates exams within the department and with other departments to provide expedient and complete care.
12. Handles telephone calls for scheduling, coordination or questions with courtesy and accuracy.
13. *Performs all aspects of patient care in an environment that optimizes patient safety and reduces the likelihood of medical/health care errors.
14. *Practices medical and surgical aseptic procedures.
15. Takes call according to monthly schedule after the closing of the regular department hours.
16. Performs all quality control checks, as prescribed.
17. Maintains accurate QC logs, service records, etc.
18. Performs highest quality imaging consistent with prescribed examination, documents and deviation.
19. Understands and practices proper use of all equipment; never operates equipment inconsistent with manufacturer’s instruction.
20. Uses PACS, Powerscribe, Real Radiology and Epic.
21. Provides care appropriate to condition and age of the patient, including pediatric, geriatric and general population.
22. Maintains professional growth and development through seminars, workshops, and professional affiliations to keep abreast of latest trends in field of expertise.
23. Participates in meetings, committees and department projects as assigned.
24. Performs other related projects and duties as assigned.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
1. Maintains clinical competency as required for the unit including but not limited to age-specific competencies relative to patient’s growth and developmental needs, annual skill competency verification and mandatory education and competencies.
2. Knowledge of computer hardware equipment and software applications relevant to work functions.
3. Knowledge of CT and MRI positioning, use of technical factors and radiation safety practices.
4. Knowledge of CT and MRI non-invasive and invasive procedures.
5. Knowledge of federal and state regulations related to radiography.
6. Knowledge and understanding of general anatomy, physiology, pathology, and medical terminology.
7. Skill in operating MRI equipment, cameras, PACS, CT and other related systems.
8. Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
9. Ability to perform crucial conversations with desired outcomes.
10. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with all levels of personnel and medical staff.
11. Ability to care for diverse patients throughout the age continuum.
12. Ability to exercise courtesy and professionalism in the work environment.
13. Ability to practice proper body mechanics to ensure personal and patient safety.
14. Ability to problem solve and engage independent critical thinking skills.
15. Ability to maintain confidentiality relevant to sensitive information.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor of Science or associate degree in radiologic technology. Graduation from an AMA-approved school of Radiologic Technology required. One (1) year of radiologic/CT/MRI experience preferred. Current certification with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) required. Valid State of Nebraska Medical Radiographer license required. CT and MRI certification required within 12 months from date of hire.
OTHER CREDENTIALS / CERTIFICATIONS:
Basic Life Support (CPR) certification required. Bryan Health recognizes American Heart Association (for healthcare professionals), American Red Cross (for healthcare professionals) and the Military Training Network.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
