Position Summary

Under direction of the Director – International Education Center, coordinate and implement activities and services under International Education Center scope of operations which include, Brookdale Worldwide, International Student Services, Study Abroad, Co-curricular Programming, and Integration of Global Perspectives into the curriculum and co-curriculum. Specific duties under each of the Center’s scope of operations are outlined below. The part-time coordinator may work in one or more of these areas depending upon the needs of the office.

Description of Duties

Brookdale Worldwide Practice Area

• Serve as Designated School Official with signature authority for all immigration documents.
• Assist in marketing and promoting Brookdale’s online and in-person degrees and programs.
• Process and evaluate applications from international applicants to determine eligibility for admission as an F-1 international student. 
• Issue I-20 forms.

International Student Services Practice Area

• Serve as Designated School Official with signature authority for all immigration documents.
• Monitor international students’ academic progress to ensure compliance with immigration regulations.
• Advise international students about their rights and responsibilities under immigration law.
• Assist international students in applying for benefits under immigration law.
• Comply with reporting obligations to Department of Homeland Security via the Student and Exchange Visitor Information System (SEVIS).
• Assist in implementing pre-arrival, orientation and on-going services and programs to assist international students in adjusting to the Brookdale community.
•  Assist in resolving problems or crises international students may experience.

Study Abroad Practice Area

• Coordinate marketing and recruitment efforts to promote study abroad programs.
• Maintain relationships with study abroad providers. Engage with study abroad providers in supporting independent and group study abroad.
• Advise students on study abroad opportunities and assist them in the application process. 
• Advise students about financial aid and scholarship opportunities to study abroad.
• Assist in developing faculty-led study abroad programs.
• Review and update study abroad brochures and marketing materials.
• Assist in resolving problems or crises study abroad students may experience.

Co-Curricular Programming Practice Area

• Assist in developing and executing International Education Center programming. 
• Write/create, design, and coordinate the distribution of flyers, posters promoting the Center’s programs.
• Maintain the International Education Center’s social media platforms.
• Integration of Global Perspectives
• Provide support for initiatives of the Global Citizenship Project.
• Provide support for initiatives of the Global Citizenship Distinction academic recognition program.

Other Duties and Responsibilities

• Assist in any new projects and initiatives.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

Education: 

• Bachelor’s Degree required. 

Experience: 

• One – two years’ experience as an international student or study abroad advisor or a position of similar responsibility is preferred. 
• Experience studying or working abroad is preferred. 

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: 

• Excellent organizational, communication, interpersonal and computer skills (Word, Excel, Access, Publisher, and PowerPoint) required. 
• If serving in the Brookdale worldwide or international student services practice areas, applicant must meet citizenship/permanent residency requirements required by the Department of Homeland Security to serve as Designated School Official (DSO).  
• Fluency in one or more foreign languages is preferred (Spanish or Portuguese is ideal).

Preferred Qualifications & Special Considerations

Knowledge of Monmouth county and its communities.
